Position Summary:

Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting activities for the Company’s fixed asset and Rental asset accounting. The role also plays an important part in supporting the accounting for our various inventories and owning several other corporate accounts. Responsibilities also include other balance sheet account reconciliations, month-end, quarter end and year end close and coordination with external auditors. This role must work well in a large dynamic team of Finance professionals and provide great customer service to our key stakeholders in the business, as well as ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards while providing accurate and timely financial information.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Fixed Assets Accounting

  • Working with Corporate Treasury, support the capital expenditures (CAPEX) process to ensure that new CAPEX additions are properly approved, classified set up in our JDE system and administered in accordance with policy.

  • Identify and properly administer asset additions, disposals & transfer activity within the month.

  • Process and record asset disposals, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies and GAAP. Clean up PPE with $0 NBV and address disposal requests.

  • Reconcile and maintain Fixed Assets Continuity schedule to the general ledger.

  • Act as a liaison with external auditors for fixed asset related inquiries. Provide supporting schedules, documentation and explanation as necessary.

  • Work closely with operations and project management teams to ensure accurate asset recording and tracking.

  • Act as the primary accounting resource for the annual Rental inventory count.

Corporate Accounts - General Ledger Management, Reconciliations and Internal Controls

  • Ensure all transactions and balance sheet accounts related to the accounts under your responsibility are recorded and reconciled accurately. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, deferrals and adjustments.

  • Support with processing entries related to Payroll, benefits & pension accounts as required.

  • Ensure reconciliations are completed on time to support accurate financial reporting.

  • Participate and lead special projects within accounting department always seeking continuous improvement in processes and procedures by collaborating with other departments i.e. IT as required.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.

  • Support the assistant controller with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.

  • Support the development and execution of budgets, forecast as required.

  • Support the Annual Inventory count process for Rentals, Subscription & Lift-Rite from accounting perspective.

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and execution to mitigate risk. (J-SOX Compliance)

Inventory Accounting Support

  • Responsible for reconciling and maintaining the Company’s internal inventory transfer accounts

  • Support Divisional Accountants, Senior Finance and the Organization with various process improvement / other projects related to inventory on a regular basis.

Other Duties

  • Collaborate with external auditors as necessary.

  • Attend meetings. (finance town halls, Staff meetings)

  • Other duties as required.

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • CPA designation or working towards CPA.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting with focus on fixed assets & Inventory accounting, preferred.

  • JD Edwards Enterprise One system experience would be an asset.

  • Intermediate/Advanced user of Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to prioritize and monitor workloads ensuring timelines are met.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Excellent people skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization
