About the Role Edmonton Global is seeking a commercially minded Sr. Business Development Manager, to drive the development and advancement of a robust pipeline of investment opportunities. This role is responsible for identifying, originating, and advancing opportunities by engaging companies that are evaluating growth, expansion, or market entry. The successful candidate will work directly with prospective investors to understand their strategic drivers, assess fit with the Edmonton region, and guide opportunities through the investment lifecycle, from initial engagement through to final investment decision (FID). This role requires a strong understanding of how companies make location and investment decisions, including cost structures, access to talent, logistics, and market opportunity. You will also play a critical role in translating these factors into a compelling regional value proposition, while supporting site selection processes and developing comparative jurisdiction analysis to position the Edmonton region competitively. Working closely with internal teams, municipal and regional partners, and industry stakeholders, you will be accountable for building and progressing a high-quality pipeline and contributing directly to investment outcomes in the Edmonton region. You will thrive in this position if you Enjoy influencing high value commercial decisions Take ownership of outcomes, not just activity Are motivated by building business What You will do Pipeline Development & Management Build, manage, and advance a high-quality pipeline of investment opportunities, driving progression from initial engagement through to decision. Lead targeted outreach to generate new opportunities and serve as a primary point of contact for companies considering growth and expansion. Identify and address risks and barriers to investment in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Maintain disciplined CRM practices in HubSpot, ensuring accurate tracking of pipeline activity, progression, and outcomes. Contribute to continuous improvement of pipeline management, conversion strategies, and business development processes. Company Engagement & Positioning Develop a strong understanding of company growth strategies, expansion drivers, and investment decision criteria. Engage directly with company leadership to assess needs, timelines, and investment requirements. Position the Edmonton Region by aligning company objectives with regional capabilities and competitive advantages. Build tailored business cases and value propositions that clearly demonstrate Edmonton’s competitive position. Site Selection & Analysis Support site selection processes and develop comparative jurisdiction analysis, including cost structures, labour availability, market access, logistics, and incentives. Conduct company, market, and sector research to inform targeting, outreach, and opportunity development. Partnerships & Intelligence Gathering Engage with Trade Commissioner Services, Government of Alberta, and other partners to strengthen value propositions and generate qualified leads. Work closely with municipal partners, government stakeholders, and industry to coordinate engagement strategies that support investment attraction. What You Bring 3–7 years of experience in business development, investment attraction, site selection, economic development, management consulting, or related fields. A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, commerce, international relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Experience working in a B2B environment, engaging with senior decision-makers and corporate stakeholders. Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of how companies evaluate growth and investment decisions. Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling insights. Strong communication skills, with confidence engaging senior-level stakeholders. A high level of organization and the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously. Experience with CRM systems such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalent. Who You Are Commercially driven and focused on outcomes, investment decisions, and deal progression.
