About the role

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Hardware Design & Development Design analog and digital electronic circuits for door control systems and related products. Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Select electronic components based on performance, reliability, cost, and availability. Participate in PCB design, review, and validation activities. Develop power distribution, signal conditioning, communication, and control circuitry. Perform component derating and reliability analysis.

System Integration Collaborate with Embedded Software Engineers to integrate firmware and hardware solutions. Work with System Engineers to ensure compliance with system requirements and interface specifications. Support prototype development and proof-of-concept activities. Participate in design reviews and technical risk assessments.

Testing & Validation Develop and execute hardware validation plans. Perform electrical testing, functional testing, and environmental testing. Conduct root cause analysis of hardware failures and implement corrective actions. Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and logic analyzers. Support EMC/EMI, safety, and environmental compliance testing.

Product Lifecycle Support Support manufacturing and production teams during product launch and ongoing production. Investigate field issues and provide technical solutions. Review and approve engineering change requests and product updates. Support supplier qualification and technical evaluations when required.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation Participate in the development of next-generation rail transit products. Recommend improvements to existing hardware architectures. Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies. Support cost reduction, reliability improvement, and obsolescence management initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related discipline 7–10+ years of embedded systems development experience Strong C/C++ low-level programming Real-time control systems knowledge Familiarity with digital and analog circuits Experience with Git, SVN, Jira, DOORS Knowledge of safety-related standards (asset) Bilingual (asset) Willingness to travel (10–15%)
