Bialik Hebrew Day School is the largest Jewish day school in Canada, educating more than 1,600 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 at our two branches, the Viewmount Branch located in midtown Toronto and the Himel Branch — including two buildings — located on the Vaughan Jewish Community Campus. Since opening its doors in 1961, Bialik has offered high-quality General and Jewish Studies programs with a commitment to academic innovation and excellence. Bialik’s non-prescriptive Jewish education comprises Hebrew literacy, Zionism and Jewish values and identity. In response to the growing community need for Jewish education, Bialik will be opening a new facility for its Junior Kindergarten students – to be known as “Viewmount South” – located at Holy Blossom Temple (1950 Bathurst Street, Toronto).
###Job Summary
Bialik Hebrew Day School seeks energetic and enthusiastic General Studies teachers to join our dynamic educational team for the 2026-27 academic year. The successful candidates will be responsible for designing engaging, multi-disciplinary lesson plans aligned with the Ontario Curriculum. This role requires a passion for working with youth in a safe and inclusive learning environment that focuses on a holistic approach to education.
Employment type: Unionized Full-time and Half-time
Location: Himel Branch in Maple or Viewmount Branch in Mid-town Toronto
The salary range: $53,183.48 - $119,132.99 as per the Teachers Collective Agreement

###Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Implement a comprehensive program that aligns with the Ontario Curriculum
- Integrate literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning into daily activities and lessons
- Use inquiry-based learning strategies to encourage curiosity and exploration among students
Instruction
- Facilitate engaging and developmentally-appropriate learning experiences for children
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
- Foster a love for learning through creative and interactive activities
Student Assessment and Support
- Assess and monitor student progress in all subject areas in the Ontario Curriculum
- Provide individualized support and feedback to help each child reach their full potential
- Collaborate with support staff to address the diverse needs of students
- Write student progress reports
Classroom Management
- Create a positive, safe classroom environment that promotes respect and cooperation
- Implement effective and developmentally appropriate classroom management strategies to maintain a productive learning atmosphere
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies
Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, and fellow teachers and administration
- Participate in Parent Teacher Conferences and school meetings
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience
- Participate in Bialik’s Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
###Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Education
- Ontario College of Teachers Certification (OCT) with Primary/Junior Division qualifications
- Knowledge of Ontario Growing Success Policies
- Experience in the intentional integration of technology into the learning environment
- Strong interest in numeracy and literacy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm about inquiry and kinesthetic approach to learning
- Energetic and passionate about fostering a love for learning in children
