Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:

  • Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
  • Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
  • Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
  • Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a compact but highly influential team within the Digital and Technology Solutions (DTS) group that provides critical strategic and tactical services to and on behalf of other functions at EDC.

The EA team operates within an innovative architecture as a service model, delivering tailored expertise and guidance across the organization. With a commitment to continuous improvement, the team is actively engaged in re-defining its suite of service offerings—ensuring that support remains agile, relevant, and closely aligned to evolving business and technology needs. This forward-thinking approach empowers EA to deliver measurable impact, foster strategic partnerships, and remain at the forefront of enterprise transformation.

We are currently seeking an Enterprise Business Architect to join this dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping EDC’s digital future.

As an Enterprise Business Architect, you will serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to both business and technology leaders, helping to bridge the gap between organizational strategy and technology execution. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Architecture, you will work collaboratively across all business lines, engaging with stakeholders to identify opportunities, drive alignment, and architect solutions that enable EDC’s business transformation ambitions.

This is not simply a conceptual or advisory position—our ideal candidate brings a passion for translating business vision into action. You will lead the design and evolution of enterprise business capabilities, facilitate the adoption of integrated frameworks, and influence the execution of EDC’s 3 Year Digital Roadmap. Through governance forums and direct engagement, you will help teams navigate architectural decisions, mitigate risks, and ensure that technology investments deliver maximum value for EDC and its customers.

We are seeking a results-oriented individual who thrives on collaboration, has demonstrated experience in business architecture or enterprise transformation, and possesses strong interpersonal and strategic thinking skills. This is an exceptional opportunity to drive business outcomes, shape the future of digital at EDC, and make a tangible impact on Canadian exporters and global trade. If you are inspired by challenge, innovation, and the chance to lead with purpose, we invite you to join us in this unique and rewarding role.

What you will be doing:

  • Serve as the steward of EDC’s business capability model, overseeing its governance and continual enhancement— supporting the use of the model to ensure alignment, transparency, and accessibility across business domains
  • Provide strategic leadership in the definition, evolution, and governance of enterprise business architecture frameworks, ensuring alignment with EDC’s strategic objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with senior business and technology leaders to translate organizational vision into actionable business capabilities, processes, and solutions that drive measurable value and support enterprise-wide objectives.
  • Foster business architecture maturity and championing best practices in business capability modeling, value stream mapping, and integrated operating models.
  • Lead the identification, prioritization, and realization of business transformation opportunities by engaging stakeholders, assessing readiness, and architecting scalable, future-facing solutions.
  • Curate, document, and socialize architectural artifacts and roadmaps, supporting their integration into planning, delivery, and change management practices across the organization.

What we are looking for:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other field relevant to Enterprise Architecture.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ combined experience in Business Architecture and/or Enterprise architecture roles.

  • Expert knowledge and experience in developing, maintaining and using Business Capability Models to drive IT planning.

  • Exceptional skills in influencing and driving results across cross-functional domains.

  • Ability to think strategically, act tactically and execute operationally.

  • Ability to conceptualize, realize and run architecture governance frameworks as well as coach and mentor on architecture governance practices.

What will make you stand out:

  • Master of Business Administration.
  • Business Analyst (BA) Certification such as IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) or IIBA Agile Analysis Certificate or willingness to obtain.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (TOGAF and/or Zachman).
  • Knowledge of BIAN (Banking Industry Architecture Network).
  • Certification in Business Architecture or Enterprise Architecture Frameworks.
  • Experience in the development of target architectures.
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English and French).

Eligibility:

  • EDC is dedicated to Fair Employment Practices. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or hold valid permanent residency cards at the time of application.
