The Provost and Vice-President Academic works with faculties and service units across the university to provide an outstanding education for SFU students and a productive research environment for faculty. Our administrative team provides executive support for the Provost, the AVPA, the AVPLT and various other senior leaders in the Provost portfolio. About the Role
The Executive Assistant to the Provost and Vice-President Academic provides high-level, confidential administrative support, handling sensitive files and correspondence with the utmost discretion. This role is integral to the effective functioning of the Provost's office, fostering a collaborative, strategic, and efficient operational environment. The position exercises sound judgment in prioritizing institutional objectives, briefing the executive, and managing the competing demands on the Provost's time and attention. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role determines when executive intervention is required, ensures the timely and accurate dissemination of communications to key stakeholders, including the Board of Governors and senior leadership—and oversees the Provost's schedule, meetings, travel, and official engagements. Additionally, the role is responsible for compiling and preparing essential materials for meetings and events, supporting institutional planning, and assisting in the development of budgetary strategies and resource allocation. The position also conducts research and analysis for special initiatives, oversees financial reporting, and ensures compliance with fiscal policies.
