About the role
Position will be responsible for learning and operating multiple machines: laser, break press, Voortman, waterjet and copper bending machine. Position will fabricate parts from steel, copper, or aluminum according to the specifications in the blueprints. Responsible for operation, loading and unloading material and parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. Must demonstrate attention to detail, work independently without supervision, and possess good oral and written communication skills. This candidate must have the ability to work in a collaborative team environment. This position works Afternoon Shift: 3:00PM - 11:30PM.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, repetitive and non-repetitive machining operations.

Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements. Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to supervisor/managers.

Other machining and quality control related tasks as required such as documenting actions by completing production and quality forms.

Participate in company safety program and contribute to safe working environment.

Determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, tools to be used, and materials for the job and setup requirements.

Ensure work piece dimensions are correct and to established tolerance criteria.

Operate light metalworking machines such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses, including computer numerical control (CNC) equipment to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal

Accurately filling out process sheets and accurately counting number of pieces completed.

Verifies conformance of part to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as, scales, calipers, micrometers, and fixed gauges; Fill out inspection reports as required.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.

Contributes to team effort by accomplishing production rates.

Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement as well as complete root cause analysis in response to issues with quality or production.

Cross train to learn new equipment and must be able to rotate to other equipment/stand in for other employees as needed.

Additional responsibilities to be performed at the discretion of management.
Key Competencies & Requirements:

Secondary School Completion (High School Diploma)

At least 1 year of relevant work experience in fabrication involving steel, cooper and/or aluminum (standard punch, bending, laser cutting, water jet operations, etc.) or CNC certification.

Experience reading blueprints with decibels, directional, or power flow reading, bending/assembly manufacturing diagrams or drawings, or operating instructions.
-
Basic math skills for the purpose calculating material fabrication.

Ability to work independently or with supervision and demonstrate a strong attention to detail.

Crane and forklift considered an asset.
-
Capable to lift to 50lbs or 23 kilograms from ground to table level.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.
