Interim PMO Manager / Senior Project Manager

Full Time, Permanent, Hybrid Delta, BC

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client is seeking an Interim Project Management Office (PMO) Manager to lead the successful delivery of complex engineering and industrial projects while providing interim leadership and direction for the Project Management Office (PMO) during a one-year maternity leave. This unique opportunity combines hands-on project management with strategic departmental leadership, serving as a long-term member of the project management team.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with organizational objectives. Alongside managing a portfolio of high-value projects, you will provide interim leadership to the PMO, support resource planning, strengthen project management practices, and establish consistent governance, reporting, and project delivery processes across the organization. This position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact by enhancing project execution, mentoring project managers, and driving operational excellence across a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

After the one-year maternity coverage this person would move to a Senior Project Management position.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY

Project Delivery

Managing the successful delivery of projects ranging from $500K to $10M+, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with defined scope. Applying project governance, controls, and best practices in alignment with established Project Management Office (PMO) methodologies. Identifying, assessing, and proactively mitigating project risks throughout the project lifecycle. Communicating project priorities, policies, expectations, and direction clearly to project teams and stakeholders. Leading and facilitating client, contractor, and internal project meetings throughout all phases of project execution. Managing project scope, budgets, schedules, quality, and performance while monitoring progress and reporting on risks, issues, and variances.

Department Leadership

Providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight to the Quality Manager while supporting the integration of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes across project teams and departments. Providing strategic leadership to the Project Management team in alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Leading departmental business planning, budgeting, and financial management. Overseeing departmental planning, resource allocation, and workload balancing to ensure operational efficiency and effective project delivery. Establishing, monitoring, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence. Representing the Project Management function in senior leadership discussions and cross-functional initiatives. Mentoring, coaching, and developing Project Managers to strengthen individual performance, build team capability, and enhance overall departmental effectiveness. Developing and enhancing project management tools, standards, and methodologies while promoting consistent adherence to project management processes and fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and accountable team culture.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) is considered an asset. Demonstrated experience managing projects involving Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EIC) engineering disciplines is required. 10+ years of progressively responsible project management experience, including leadership, supervisory, or team lead responsibilities. Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically and balance project, resource, and organizational priorities. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of an organization. Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented culture.

COMPENSATION

$135,000 - $145,000/year, plus the opportunity to earn a bonus based on both individual and company performance.
