About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, and operational support of building systems and infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. This individual must be a self-starter and will be a key member of the facilities team with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. This individual will help to ensure that all building equipment and systems are functioning efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company policies and relevant codes. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and be able to assist individuals at all levels of the organization, while prioritizing facilities requests. The successful candidate is an individual who is mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, brings energy to the job, makes safety a priority and has a strong attention to detail.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Facilities and will be located in our Vancouver, BC, Canada location. The level of the position will be commensurate with the candidate’s education and industry experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct all facilities and building maintenance support activities, including but not limited to:
- Perform inspections on building HVAC, electrical, plumbing, DDC control system, generators, pumps, compressors, boilers, chiller, house vacuum system, house nitrogen generating system.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with regulations related to building operations.
- Troubleshoot as needed and repair building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Respond to and resolve facilities-related service requests in a timely manner.
- Take initiative to resolve various FacilitiesHelp requests from staff.
- Oversee Corporate activities, such as setting up/cleaning up for company events and meetings, setting up seating for new hiring, and help with recycling.
- Maintain building and laboratory operational mechanical infrastructure in line with company objectives and goals.
- Ensure mechanical lab instrument site preparation activities are completed for new laboratory instrument installments.
- Assist the team on Facilities upgrade projects and work closely with his/her supervisor and with external trades and contractors.
- Work with external contractors and Landlord for specialized maintenance and projects, as needed.
- Ensure operational areas are clean and tidy.
- Available for occasional after-hours call outs in the event of facility emergencies.
- Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Minimum 4+ years hands-on facility maintenance experience is a must.
- Power Engineer 5th Class certification would be an asset.
- Safety oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and computer skills.
- Must be physically able to lift up to 25 kilograms (i.e. 55 pounds) comfortably.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A self-starter with the ability to solve problems.
- Flexible and has a willingness to adapt to changing demands and goals.
The base salary range for this role is $62,500 to $78,200 CAD; we will consider above this range for exceptional candidates. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, education and other qualifications, years of relevant experience, and internal equity.

We are seeking a Senior Facilities Technician to join our Facilities Team.
