What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Associate Director, Terminal Operations, the Manager of Training & Standards is a newly created role responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining training programs and operational standards that ensure the safe, efficient, and consistent delivery of terminal operations. This role is key to embedding accountability, operational excellence, and service consistency across all terminal touchpoints. The Manager will lead curriculum development, oversee compliance with GTAA policies and regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement in frontline performance.

As Manager, Training & Standards, Terminal Operations, you will:

  • Lead training development, design and oversee the entire training framework for Terminal Operations, including comprehensive programs for onboarding, recurrent training, and upskilling across all roles.
  • Modernize delivery, deliver engaging training sessions and competency assessments, and lead initiatives to modernize training delivery through digital tools, simulations, and data-driven insights.
  • Establish standards, develop, document, and maintain clear operational standards and procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and alignment with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance & quality, conduct audits and quality checks to assess adherence to operational standards and service-level agreements. Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure compliance and identify gaps.
  • Manage, coach, lead, coach, and develop the Training and Quality Assurance team, providing guidance, performance feedback, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Engage stakeholders, act as the primary point of contact for training-related matters, partnering with internal groups (Safety, HR) and external contractors to integrate training and standards into broader organizational and transformation projects.
  • Manage resources efficiently manage the training budget, resources, and prepare business cases for necessary program investments and enhancements.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and delivering training programs, preferably within a high-standard, safety-critical industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on training experience, with a strong emphasis on quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, including managing and guiding small teams of 4 or more individuals.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple priorities and meet tight timelines.
  • Experience in training within the aviation or terminal operations industry would be an asset.
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing training programs that meet high operational and safety standards.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards relevant to terminal or aviation operations.
  • Post-secondary diploma in Business Management, Program Coordination, or a relevant field.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
