Senior Accountant (Contract)
📍 North York, ON | Hybrid (2–3 Days Onsite) | 8-Month Contract (Maternity Leave Coverage) Our client, a well-established Insurance organization, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Finance team on an 8-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and has strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities Prepare and post journal entries accurately and on time Prepare month-end financial statements and supporting schedules Complete bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations Analyze financial results and investigate variances Assist with account analysis and financial reporting Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records Assist with process improvements and ad hoc accounting projects Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Finance and Operations Qualifications 4+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting experience Strong experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and data analysis Experience working with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, PeopleSoft, or similar) is an asset Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment CPA designation or progress toward CPA is considered an asset
