The Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) represents nearly 100,000 REALTORS® who are members of the 23 real estate boards throughout the province. OREA is looking to add a Legal Counsel to its legal team to support the organization. Reporting directly to and working closely with the General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for the review, negotiation and drafting of a broad range of commercial contracts (including procurement of services and IT-related agreements), preparing reports for OREA’s Board and committees, and the drafting and interpretation of OREA and Board by-laws.The Legal Counsel will also support the AGM process, and provide legal advice and guidance to the OREA Board of Directors and the organization. This role will require you to be in the office, full-time, and be based out of OREA’s head office located near Don Mills and York Mills Road in North York.
The ideal candidate will have 4-6 years of corporate and commercial experience gained from a reputable law firm or corporation. Any experience working with not-for-profit organizations would be preferred. Strong negotiation, drafting, and problem-solving skills will be required in order to succeed in this role. You must be a team player, possess a positive attitude, and have a client service approach to your practice.
