Health & Safety Coordinator
About the role
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director, Wellness, the Health, Safety & Wellness Coordinator will assist and support in the continued development, implementation and evaluation of our health & safety and well-being strategic framework, policies, and programs. The Health, Safety & Wellness Coordinator will assist with health, safety and wellness initiatives aimed at promoting healthy and safe lifestyles by fostering a healthy workplace culture at the individual and organizational level.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Communication
- Create health promotion and HSE communications, including but not limited to, wellness/mental health moments, newsletter articles, social media posts, tool box talks, initiative communications.
- Work with Internal Communications to push out team member communications.
- Coordinates the revitalization of internal communication tool: SharePoint. This includes but is not limited to the redesigning, implementing and ongoing maintenance of the intranet site.
- Respond to inquiries and provide information to Team Members.
- Organize and facilitate virtual and in-person sessions and continuing education programs related to Well-Being with support from the Director, Wellness and various partners.
- Acts as a point of contact for all team member questions and concerns related to BGIS’ wellness program.
- Provide expert interpretation of Well-Being procedures and policies to team members and/or service providers, as required.
Training and Learning Sessions
- Coordinate and implement training; not limited to but including suicide prevention and MHFA (logistical planning, manage registration).
- Participate in and deliver mental health training.
- Facilitate sessions, including but not limited to, virtual well-being onboarding and movement breaks.
- Coordinate initiatives; speaker recruitment, logistical planning, manage registration. Support the development and execution of HSE training programs as required.
Program Leadership
- Play a leadership role for BGIS Balance (actively promote, implement and participate).
- Acts as a change agent to ensure knowledge and know how is transferred to leaders / managers and actions are taken to ensure health and well-being and Wellness strategies are embedded into BGIS’ workplace culture, operations, and strategic goals.
- Act as a mentor for Wellness Placement Student(s)
Program Support
- Work with Director, Wellness to provide feedback and recommendations for future programming.
- Forms and fosters effective partnerships within the organization.
- Engage with regional BGIS teams to increase the understanding and importance of BGIS Balance initiatives.
- Support Global initiatives such as well-being survey, challenges, global safety and wellness week.
- Create metrics for wellness (for ex. mental health practitioner data) and assist as needed with other data analysis projects.
- Ensures Well-Being initiatives are carried out efficiently and are responding to the established objectives and priorities.
- Tracks, measures, and reports on the effectiveness of the Well-Being programs and initiatives.
- First line approver for monthly Fitness Reimbursements, including, creating monthly report for payroll.
- Develop support structures for managers and team members to move towards greater workplace well-being.
- Works with the Director, Wellness, Global Learning & Development teams and other partners to assist in the development and roll out of live and online training programs as well as identifying existing training resources.
Continuous Improvement
- Conducts continuous research on health and wellness-related information topics and best practices.
- Assists in monitoring service delivery, identifying inefficiencies, and developing process improvements.
- Research industry trends.
- Co Chair BGIS Balance Well-Being committee meetings.
- Participate in activities with the HSE and Wellness teams.
- Assist with adhoc requests.
Other
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- University degree in health sciences, kinesiology, psychology and/or a Post-Graduate Certificate in Workplace Wellness or Health Promotion, Human Resources or related discipline is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated capacity in team member / stakeholder engagement, relationship building.
- Strong knowledge in the areas of health, wellness and risk management.
- Ability to effectively deal with situations that have no precedent and are sensitive, confidential and high-risk in nature.
- Effective interpersonal skills, especially communication (verbal / written) and influencing skills.
- Strong organizational skills, documentation and reporting skills.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Ability to design, deliver and evaluate training programs in a variety of health-related areas.
- Strong coaching and consulting skills and the ability to work with diverse client groups.
- Proven problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, independence, and collaboration.
- Able to distill data from a variety of sources, drawing conclusions, and develop action plans and mitigation strategies.
- High proficiency in Microsoft office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Post-Graduate Certificate in Workplace Wellness or Health Promotion is strongly preferred.
This is a regular,full-time position with a salary range of $47,118 - $58,897 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
