Title**:** Driller
Reports to**:** Rig Manager
General Summary of Position**:**
The Driller position is deemed to be a “Safety Sensitive” position due to the proximity of heavy industrial machinery. This position requires the supervision of the crews that perform different tasks on the oil rig according to the regulations of the oil company, making sure that the work of the crew follows all company policies as well as enforcing rules regarding safety and PPE requirements. A Driller must constantly verify the equipment and record the data into a log. Most importantly, the Driller is responsible for the equipment and the safety of his crew members during all operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:**

Operate and maintain drilling fluid systems and pumps during drilling

Responsible for the proper training and safe work practices for the crew
-
Responsible for the safe operation of the drilling rig
-
Operate hoist, well control, mud and power systems
-
Ensure safety and support equipment is functioning properly.

Monitor drilling progress and communicate advancements/changes to Rig Manager.
-
Maintain an up to date record of drilling progress.
-
Train new crew members.
-
Ensure usage of proper safety equipment.
-
Ability to comply with company guidelines and work in a safe manner.

Valid H2S Alive Certification

Well Control/1st Line Supervisor certification

Current Special Oilfield Boiler certification (minimum)

Fall Protection and Fall Rescue for rig work

Standard First Aid/CPR certification

Confined Space Entry and Rescue
-
Loader certification
-
Minimum Class 5 DL and reliable transportation
Physical Demands**:**
Working on a drilling rig comes with many physical demands and a commitment to a safe work environment. A rig worker is exposed to all weather conditions, long hours and rigorous physically demands. Horizon Drilling is committed to ensure rig workers meet these physical demands by having each employee successfully complete a substance screening and strength and mobility test prior to them being hired. Rig workers should be able to successfully lift 90 lbs., work 12 hours shift in extreme weather conditions and are able to work in a team environment. Horizon Drilling is dedicated to a continuous improvement of safety.
