Job Summary
Join TYLin’s fast-paced and collaborative Transportation team in the GTA as a Civil Engineer – Roads & Highways, where your hands-on design expertise will directly shape major infrastructure projects across Ontario. We're looking for a technically driven civil engineer who thrives on design production and is eager to contribute to high-impact projects led by clients such as the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), municipalities, and regional transportation authorities.
If you're passionate about roadway and highway design, comfortable working in MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD), and ready to dive into the technical delivery of complex transportation projects, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Develop roadway geometric design, grading, and plan/profile drawings for highway and municipal roadway projects across Ontario.
- Support the production of contract documents, including design plans, calculations, quantities, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Prepare design submissions at various stages (Preliminary Design, Detail Design, and Tender Package) in compliance with MTO and municipal standards.
- Coordinate with internal disciplines (e.g., drainage, structural, traffic) to ensure design integration and consistency.
- Assist in responding to design comments from clients and stakeholders and revising deliverables accordingly.
- Participate in field reviews, site assessments, and design coordination meetings.
- Maintain quality and accuracy across all deliverables and adhere to project schedules and budgets.
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior designers and EITs as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; P.Eng. in Ontario or eligibility for licensure.
- 5–10 years of experience in roadway/highway design with a strong focus on production work for public sector transportation clients.
- Proficiency in MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer (ORD); experience with InRoads or Civil 3D is an asset.
- Familiarity with MTO standards, including the Highway Design Manual, Engineering Drafting Guidelines, and Contract Preparation Manual.
- Strong technical skills in developing design drawings and documentation from concept through to final tender.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment focused on technical excellence and delivery.
