About the role
Are you a proven leader with a track record of driving performance, developing teams, and managing complex, high-volume operations? IDEXX is seeking a dynamic Assistant Laboratory Manager to lead our Markham, ON facility—part of one of the largest veterinary diagnostic networks in the world.
This is a high-impact leadership role designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and excel at managing large teams and operational workflows. While laboratory experience is a plus, we’re looking for seasoned leaders who bring operational excellence, people-first management, and a passion for continuous improvement—regardless of industry background.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and Inspire: Manage and develop a team of supervisors and frontline employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Oversee daily lab operations, including staffing, workflow coordination, and performance metrics to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic services.
- Problem-Solve Strategically: Tackle challenges head-on—from equipment troubleshooting to optimizing turnaround times—using data-driven decision-making and agile thinking.
- Champion Employee Development: Empower your team through coaching, mentoring, and career growth opportunities, aligning individual goals with business success.
- Own the Business: Act as a key leader within the lab and broader business, contributing to strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
What You Bring
- Demonstrated success leading high-volume teams (10+ employees and/or multiple supervisors) in operations, logistics, manufacturing, or similar environments.
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop others.
- Operational management experience in a fast-paced setting; lab experience is beneficial but not required.
- Passion for people leadership and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive workplace.
- Comfort working in a hands-on environment with physical requirements typical of lab settings.
