THE POSITION

The Room Attendant is responsible for the overall cleanliness of luxury hotel and residences rooms. To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of sanitation regulations, cleaning protocol, and high-level of attention to detail. You must be able to guarantee cleanliness for each room, and assigned productivity within the shift period. This role is required to report any maintenance deficiency to ensure items in the rooms are in perfect working order. Candidates must demonstrate good communication skills as they will be interacting with different departments for room status and updates, and greeting guests in a professional and guest-focused manner.

The Room Attendant reports directly to the Director of Housekeeping and Housekeeping Supervisors, working alongside with other Room Attendants and Housepersons.

This is a fully onsite role working a maximum of 5 days a week in the SoHo Hotel Toronto, located at 318 Wellington Street, Toronto, Ontario.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stripping linens from the bed and bathroom & handles linen as instructed.
  • Vacuuming and dusting throughout the suite (carpeting & marble floors).
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms and fixtures.
  • Wash bathroom floors.
  • Cleans glass, wood, aluminum and marble surfaces with approved cleaning products.
  • Replacing fresh lines throughout the suites.
  • Checking room amenities and replacing items.
  • Attend to guest requests for extra supplies or other items.
  • Responsible for ensuring that linens and amenities are fully stocked in the housekeeping pantry.
  • Maintains tidiness and cleanliness of pantry.
  • Handle and report lost and found items.
  • Call to remove room service items.
  • Emptying garbage cans
  • Reports room items requiring maintenance.
  • Report housekeeping items that require deep cleaning (i.e. Stains on carpets and bed skirts).
  • Set room temperature control.
  • Reports “Do Not Disturb” rooms and “refuse service” rooms in a timely manner.
  • Complete daily report as per training.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of one (1) year work experience in hotel housekeeping.
  • Must be flexible and able to work with a variety of people.
  • Neat, pleasant personality.
  • Ability to work on feet for an extended period.
  • Must be available to work shifts between the hours of 8:00am and 6:00pm.
  • Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, and statutory holidays.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail.
  • Must possess good communication skills.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be guest-service focused.
  • Ability to multitask and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a service-related position is an asset.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Displays a professional positive attitude, maintains enthusiasm, and celebrates success.
