About the role

BCIT’s Information Technology Services (ITS) department is seeking aregular, full-time (1.0 FTE**) M365 Administrator (Intermediate Systems Analyst)** to join our Cloud Technology & Systems team. Working with a wide variety of individuals and teams within and outside the department, you will be responsible for the implementation and operation of BCIT’s M365 ecosystem as it relates to the IT Academic, Administrative, and Research agendas of BCIT.

You have a minimum of four years of professional experience in the IT industry, with a strong background in Microsoft system administration, the M365 ecosystem, and technical operations in a large, multi-campus environment. Your expertise includes hands-on experience with M365 and Entra ID, implementing and supporting Microsoft technologies, and troubleshooting complex environments. You are adept at clearly articulating complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences, have a proven record of analytical and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate high professionalism and ethics.

Duties & Responsibilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:**

  • Assist with planning, supporting and maintaining an enterprise M365 environment.

  • Provide incident response, troubleshooting, and administrative support for the following Microsoft platform services:

    • Exchange Online
    • OneDrive for Business
    • Microsoft Teams
    • SharePoint Online
    • Power Platform
    • Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions
  • Communicate service updates, feature releases, and changes to Change Management and user engagement teams.

  • Perform in-depth diagnosis and resolution of complex Microsoft 365 and system-related issues.

  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation and architecture diagrams.

  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies and industry best practices.

  • Maintain relevant professional certifications and current knowledge of information technology tools and techniques.

  • Respond to service tickets in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Participate in on-call rotation and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS**:**

  • Institute of Technology diploma, or bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of four years current relevant experience in an IT environment similar to BCIT.
  • Proven commitment to providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Must be a team player and work well with cross-departmental teams.
  • Ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge and techniques.
  • Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends).
  • High level of professionalism and ethics.

Your background must also include:

  • 3–5 years’ experience administering Microsoft 365, with a focus on Exchange Online, Teams, and OneDrive.
  • Experience supporting Teams, managing meeting/voice policies, guest access, app governance.
  • Strong skills in OneDrive management: quotas, sharing, sync, permissions, DLP
  • Solid knowledge of Entra ID: user/group/role administration, RBAC, MFA, conditional access.
  • Demonstrated experience building automation/scripts using PowerShell or Graph API.
  • Ability to interpret logs, dashboards, analytics for diagnostics.
  • Experience in tenant configuration: licensing, governance, change control, backup/restore.
  • Experience configuring and hardening a Microsoft 365 tenant environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven capacity to document work, participate in projects, complete change management tasks, and adapt to priorities.

The following would be an asset:

  • Familiarity with administration of Azure IaaS and PaaS solutions.

  • Networking fundamentals: DNS, firewall/proxy, bandwidth and latency issues.

  • Working knowledge of compliance and data protection: retention, sensitivity labels, audit, eDiscovery.

  • Familiarity with Atlassian suite products, including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.

  • Experience in complex Higher Education environments.

  • Industry-accredited certifications in related technologies.

Salary Range

Salary Range: $65,187 - $89,242 per annum.

Additional Salary Information

Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
