CivCheck is transforming how cities manage plan review and building code compliance. As part of Clariti, CivCheck brings together deep domain expertise and cutting-edge AI to streamline and modernize the permitting process. Our Guided AI Plan Review™ (GPR) platform is the first of its kind in helping cities and applicants navigate complex building codes and permitting with clarity, consistency, and speed. By combining intelligent automation with human expertise, CivCheck empowers communities to build faster, safer, and smarter.

How will you help us make an impact? 👩‍💻👨‍💻 We're seeking an experienced Senior Implementation Code Consultant . Reporting to CivCheck's Co-Founder and COO, this person will bridge the gap between traditional plan review and technology-driven automation. This role is central to translating complex building and zoning code requirements into CivCheck's AI platform, working closely with product and engineering teams.

You'll act as both a subject matter expert and strategic consultant, helping cities modernize their plan review processes, improve consistency, and deliver faster permitting outcomes. The ideal candidate has expertise in building code consulting, third-party plan review, or technical design (as a licensed or experienced design professional), and is fluent in applying and interpreting the ICC suite (IBC, IRC, IEBC, IFC, A117.1 etc.), NFPA, and local zoning regulations.

As a Senior Implementation Code Consultant at Clariti, you'll get to:

  • Research, interpret and apply local and state building, zoning, and other applicable codes for residential and commercial projects.
  • Lead discovery and requirements-gathering sessions with city stakeholders, capturing jurisdiction-specific permitting nuances, local amendments, and plan review workflows to guide configuration and implementation.
  • Translate and configure complex building, zoning, fire, and accessibility code provisions into CivCheck's AI platform.
  • Test, validate, and fine-tune the configured regulations to ensure accurate interpretation and application of codes by the AI engine.
  • Clearly articulate code rationale (when, how, and why it applies to a project).
  • Collaborate closely with the Engagement Manager and Onboarding Specialist to deliver successful city implementations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of configuration workbooks, requirements, and system updates.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to cities, helping them streamline plan review and permitting through clear processes and smart, modern technology.

What do you bring to the team? 🧠

  • 5+ years of experience as a building code consultant, plans examiner, or technical designer (architecture or engineering).
  • Deep knowledge of ICC (IBC, IRC, IEBC, IFC, etc.), zoning, and accessibility codes.
  • Proven ability to translate complex code language into clear, logic-based workflows suitable for software implementation.
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and technical writing skills for documentation and stakeholder communication.
  • Experience in process mapping, requirements gathering, or configuration management.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills; you are able to ask great questions, clarify ambiguity, build city stakeholder alignment, and explain technical details to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working with interdisciplinary teams across engineering, customer success, and professional services.
  • Curious, adaptable, and eager to learn new technology platforms, especially AI-driven tools.

Bonus Points 🎉

  • Experience navigating building permitting and plan review processes across multiple jurisdictions, with an understanding of how code interpretation influences permit review and approval outcomes.
  • Direct experience in developing jurisdiction-specific code checklists, internal review standards, or quality assurance processes for building or zoning code compliance.
  • Familiarity with digital plan review and permitting software.
  • Experience configuring or implementing government technology.
  • Enthusiasm for shaping how AI redefines plan review and code compliance in the public sector.

Clariti’s government software helps North America’s largest and fastest growing communities deliver exceptional community development, permitting, and licensing experiences online.

Our platform is built as an alternative to code-heavy, non-configurable systems that create technology barriers for governments to meet their community’s evolving needs.

We believe that organizations should be able to dictate how their software works. To us, that means providing our customers with a system that’s maintained with clicks, not code, to relieve pressure on technical resources and better support citizens and staff.
