Department Information

The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.

Job Information

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping how technology drives government and departmental priorities. As a Business Partner, Information Management and Technology (IM&T), you will have a direct impact on innovation, service delivery, and strategic outcomes that affect communities across the Northwest Territories.
In this strategic role, you will serve as a trusted advisor and executive level partner, ensuring that technology strategies, solutions, and services align with business needs and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead relationship management between IM&T and client departments, fostering long term strategic partnerships.
  • Align departmental and IM&T strategies by collecting insights, contributing to planning, and communicating outcomes.
  • Participate in senior management committee meetings, bringing IM&T perspectives into executive level planning.
  • Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to ensure solutions meet organizational standards and change management best practices.
  • Develop business cases, evaluate proposals, and provide advice on technology opportunities, risks, and investments.

Key Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree (4 Yrs) in business, management, information systems or computer science with approximately 10 years work experience including 3 years leadership experience developing and executing strategic plans and / or project portfolios

Equivalencies:

  • A Master¿s degree (MBA, MIS, Computer Science) with 7¿8 years of relevant experience in business analysis, project management, or strategic planning, including at least 3 years of leading a team.
  • A two- or three-year college diploma in business, IT, or management with 12¿14 years of progressively responsible experience in business analysis, project management, or strategic planning, including at least 5 years of leading a team.
  • An undergraduate degree in an unrelated field, combined with relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CBAP, BRMP, ITIL, COBIT) and 10¿12 years of related experience in business analysis, project management, or strategic planning, including at least 3 years of leading a team.
