Recreation Assistant

Hours of Work**:**Up to 24 Hours per week
Initial location: Kitchener City Hall
**Posting period:**July 31, 2025 to August 14, 2025 (at 6:00pm)
Overview
Recreation assistants play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of a wide variety of recreation and leisure programs in the community.
Responsibilities
- Delivers equipment to various locations. Ensures new equipment purchases are recorded for inventory. Sanitizes and inspects existing equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Organizes fitness/other equipment storage rooms before the start of a new session.
- Visits various locations to monitor programs and connect with program staff and/or volunteers. Reports any concerns to the Program Coordinator for appropriate follow-up.
- Provides support and occasionally attends volunteer-led programs to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Ensure evaluations are completed for each program at the end of each session.
- Monitors program attendance and conduct follow-up with participants to determine their ongoing interest.
- Assist Program Coordinators to develop and implement volunteer appreciation initiatives.
- Assists in the implementation of special program events.
- Assists Program Coordinator in the implementation of wellness and educational workshops.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum level of education – completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent).
- Must be able to lift 35lbs unassisted.
- Access to reliable transportation for the duration of employment
- Minimum 3 months of related experience.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
