About the Opportunity: We are looking for a Job Coach who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and promoting inclusive societies. A Job Coach is responsible for assisting individuals in their search for competitive paid employment and partnering with each individual in their commitment to an on-going healthy work ethic. As a Job Coach, you will assist individuals in their employment, playing an active role in fostering opportunities for the development of relationships with support networks and the community to increase positive social roles. Provide instruction, training, and supervision to participants at job placement sites in proper use of equipment as well as relevant vocational skills such as work habits, and appropriate social skills and behaviours.

Qualifications:

  • High School Education (Grade 12) or equivalency is required.
  • Experience, education, or training in the Disability Sector will be considered an asset
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5F (Full) Driver's License and access to vehicle, willingness to transport person supported required
  • Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, with a clear Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse and Adult Abuse Registry Check. Document will be considered current if obtained no more than 3 months prior to start of employment
  • Core Competencies: Advocacy, building relationships, championing change and innovation, facilitating growth and development, inclusive leadership, problem solving and decision making, resilience, resource management, strategic thinking, valuing EDI (equity, diversity, and inclusion)
  • Demonstrate an understanding of legal and ethical standards related to confidentiality, professional conduct and practice.
  • Familiar with laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the disability support sector.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail required, in order to complete required documentation.
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to listen to persons supported, and understand their needs.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability, with attention to detail.
  • Maintain sensitivity to individuals’ supported cultural, religious and/or political backgrounds.
  • Uphold strong morals and ethics, and maintain a commitment to privacy dignity and respect.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team-setting, and adapt to changing situations.

Working Conditions:

  • Interact with community employers and hiring personnel, family members, staff and government agencies.
  • Travel within the community.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to fifty (50) lbs.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop/laptop computers, or other devices (i.e. tablets)



Additional Info:

  • Application is open until position has been filled
  • This position offers 30 to 40 hours per week. Shifts will be scheduled within the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional opportunities to pick up early morning (starting at 5:30 a.m.), evening, or weekend shifts as needed.
  • Working Environment: 100% On-site
  • Starting wage: $17.50
