Welding Supervisor
About the role
As a Welding Supervisor with SMS Equipment, you’ll lead safe, efficient, and high-quality welding operations. You’ll guide and support tradespeople in both the shop and field, ensuring every project meets SMS Equipment’s standards of excellence while delivering the reliable results our customers count on.
Location: Timmins, ON
Salary: $110,000 - $120,000
Shift: 14x14 rotation
What You’ll Do
- Overseeing welding shop and field operations.
- Supervising, coordinating, and scheduling activities to meet operational requirements.
- Conducting inspections and final evaluations to ensure SMS quality standards.
- Enforcing payroll and human resources policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by developing and enforcing procedures and regulations.
- Ensuring tradespeople follow safe procedures and trade practices.
- Tracking and arranging C.W.B. training, OHSE training, and site-specific orientations.
- Providing service information to customers and resolving service issues.
- Troubleshooting and following up on issues to ensure resolution.
What You Bring
The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership, and safety-consciousness. Qualifications include:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a qualified Welder and at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Journeyperson certification (Red Seal) in Welding (required).
- Thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Customer-focused with excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Knowledge of C.W.B, OH&S acts/regulations, and equipment inspection requirements.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
- Valid Class 5/G driver’s license.
