About the role

As a member of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency Senior Leadership team, the Director, Human Resources is accountable for providing collaborative leadership and expertise in the development and evaluation of policies, procedures, programs and initiatives that support and advance the Agency’s mission, values, policies and strategic direction. 

The Director partners and collaborates with executive leadership, directors, managers and external partners to lead the  management of the Agency’s Human Resources, Organizational Development, and First Nations and  Métis Relations  strategies and activities. The Director is accountable for strategic leadership and advisory support to the CEO, Executive Leadership and Senior Leadership teams in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, directing and evaluating of a wide variety of human resource management, organizational development, and First Nations and Métis  programs and services. These include human resource planning, recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, labour relations, talent management and performance, workforce planning, organizational change and effectiveness, training and development, and First Nations and  Métis health and wellness, cultural responsiveness, and community partnerships . 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in administration (health administration, public administration or business administration/commerce) plus a minimum 10 years of relevant human resource experience, preferably dealing with professional and technical staff in a unionized health care organization.
  • Experience in leadership development, organizational development, change management, and LEAN methodology is an asset.

  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
  • Works independently and as a member of cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a range of audiences including senior officials, physicians and their representatives, governments, the public and the media.
  • Analyzes complex problems and conceptualizes, develops and implements innovative solutions.
  • Leads, drives and supports change, and continually improves processes using LEAN and other methodologies.
  • Results-oriented, and conceptual systems thinker.
  • Strong commitment to patient/client service excellence.
