The Ministry of Children and Family Services funds programs and services to support vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals to live safely and succeed in Alberta. This includes providing services and resources to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect and effectively address harm that has placed them in need of intervention. Mentoring and support services are available to youth transitioning into healthy, productive adults. The ministry also invests in community-based groups that support prevention and early intervention services such as Family Resource Networks, youth emergency shelters as well as programs that raise awareness and help respond to family violence, sexual violence, and abuse.

As a Caregiver Supervisor supporting Foster Care, you will support the alignment of casework practice by following the direction and working towards the operational goals of the Ministry of Children and Family Services. Your dynamic leadership will demonstrate your talents and enthusiasm to coach, mentor and guide your team within the child intervention practice framework, signs of safety, as well as Intake and Safety Phase Workflow.

Qualifications
Education:

A Bachelor of Social Work or Social Work Diploma and 2 years related experience.
The successful candidate must have been Delegated within the last 24 months under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act in Alberta and must have the related skills, abilities, knowledge and experience to be delegated.
The following equivalencies may be considered;

Master of Social Work and 1 year related experience; or
-
Related university degree and 4 years related experience; or
-
Related diploma and 5 years related experience; or
-
Related certificate and 6 years of experience.
Related university degree can include Bachelor of Social Work, Social Work Diploma, Bachelor of Child Studies/Child & Youth Care, BA Education, Bachelor of Health Sciences, Bachelor of Human Services, BA/BSc Psychology, BA Sociology, Bachelor of Community Rehab, BSc. Family Studies/Human Ecology, BA Early Child Development, Law Degree.
Related diploma can include Addictions/Counseling Diploma, Child and Youth Care Diploma, Human Services Diploma and Criminal Justice Diploma.

Related experience includes:

Preference will be given to those candidates who have completed the Foundations, and Relationship and Culture pathways in the Ministry’s ICUF. Recognizing that there will be exceptional situations, managers and supervisors who have not completed the training, will be given 12 months from their respective effective dates or from their hiring date thereafter to initiate/complete training. Application for equivalencies based on previous training will be assessed individually.
The ideal candidates will have a strong working knowledge of the Child, Youth, and Family Enhancement Act and other related legislations (e.g. PSECA), as well as possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong critical thinking skills and previous supervisory experience.

- As per the Health Professions Act, successful applicant must be registered with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) to be eligible for this position if they possess a Bachelor, Diploma or Masters in Social Work. For more information, visit
- Travel will be required in this role; therefore, final candidate for this position will be asked to provide a current 5-year commercial driver’s abstract and must carry a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and have access to a reliable vehicle. Candidate may also be required to use their own vehicle when government fleet vehicles are not available. Appropriate insurance is required.
- Successful candidate will require a clear Intervention Record Check (IRC) + Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check (CRC VS) to be considered for the role.
