Human Resources Administrator

National Shunt Service Ltd. operates across North America specializing in yard management (shunting). With over 20 years of experience providing innovative yard management services (operations and technology), NSSL executes a TOTAL YARD MANAGEMENT PROGRAM for any type of warehouse, manufacturer, or cross-dock operation in North America. We call it shunting but you may know it as: spotting, jockeying, yarding, or switching.

Family owned and operated transportation company. We manage in excess of 150,000 shipment movements per month for some of the leading name brand manufacturers and major retailers in North America. We are seeking a Human Resources Administrator to support our North American Operations team.

In Office Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm

Overview

The HR administrator will be responsible for administering various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel. This individual will support the day-to-day administrative transactions relating to all phases of the employee life cycle activities and responsible for delivering a smooth and engaging onboarding experience for new hires. This role manages the end-to-end onboarding process, ensuring all administrative, compliance, and orientation activities are completed efficiently while creating a positive first impression of the organization. This is an ideal position for an HR professional who wants to be part of a dynamic work environment, shows initiative and a willingness to learn and grow in the role, and who is looking to make a positive impact for our team in the US and Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day activities to support the full cycle onboarding process for Driver vacancies; background checks, drug tests, preparing and extending employment offers and onboarding documents.
  • Verify, and file required documentation (e.g., licenses, certifications, IDs)
  • Assist with employee orientations.
  • Enter and update employee information in HR systems accurately
  • Coordinate with operations, safety, and payroll teams to ensure new hires are fully set up
  • Explain company policies, benefits, and procedures to employees.
  • Assist the operations & finance departments when needed
  • Serve as first point of contact for current employees for any HR related inquiries; relaying messages and answering questions in a timely manner
  • Prepare compliance reports, employee letters, and conduct exit interviews
  • Create employment documents and maintain company and employee records, ensuring data integrity across all platforms while keeping sensitive information confidential.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience of transferable skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, diligent task follow-through and customer service orientation
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong sense of accountability and initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (including grammar and punctuation).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive and confidential matters effectively to all professional levels within the organization
