Research Communications Specialist
The Arthur Sommer Rotenberg (ASR) Suicide & Depression Studies Program conducts intervention-focused research while leading education, advocacy, and community outreach initiatives aimed at improving mental health outcomes. The ASR program is committed to knowledge translation, community engagement, and the promotion of mental health awareness.
The ASR is currently seeking a Research Communications Specialist to manage the development and implementation of program-specific communications initiatives. This position will oversee content creation, social media management, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge translation activities to advance the ASR’s research priorities and public impact.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and implement communications strategies and annual plans aligned with ASR program priorities.
Create, edit, and produce compelling content for newsletters, websites, social media, and other communication channels.
Write website content and develop graphics to support all communication channels, ensuring professional and visually engaging materials.
Design tools, resources, and materials to support special ASR campaigns and knowledge translation initiatives.
Coordinate the launch of program campaigns across different communication channels.
Manage ASR social media channels (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn), including content planning, analytics, and reporting.
Maintain and update ASR program website and content management systems (CMS).
Coordinate development and dissemination of knowledge translation materials, including educational resources, reports, and campaign materials, to enhance community engagement and program visibility.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including partner organizations, community groups, media representatives, and spokespeople; coordinate media requests as needed.
Plan and coordinate program-related events, webinars, and conferences, including logistics, marketing, and materials preparation.
Provide communications support and strategic counsel to ASR team members and stakeholders regarding messaging, branding, and outreach.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of communications strategies, providing recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in communications, ideally within healthcare, research, or non-profit settings.
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Experience managing social media accounts and web-based content management systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva; experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat Pro) is an asset.
Experience with event planning, stakeholder engagement, and media relations.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Fluency in French (reading and writing) is an asset.
