Scope
The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department is recruiting for an Arena Maintenance Worker. This is custodial and technical work that is based out of a seasonal outdoor ice-skating facility. Duties will include ice maintenance, facility cleanliness, as well as interaction with the public in the provision of recreation facility services that may include additional duties such as skate sharpening.
Responsibilities
Monitors ice plant readings and operate ice resurfacer.
Performance of janitorial duties.
Observe, record and report on equipment and buildings.
Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and practice good public relations while responding to their inquiries.
Keep accurate records, including but not limited to: daily log of activities, equipment and material usage reports.
Use computer applications as required.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 10.
One-year relevant experience including dealing with public in high demand situations.
Emergency First Aid with CPR/AED Level C (or equivalent) ¿ required before the completion of probation period.
A valid BC Driver¿s license.
You demonstrate strong public relations skills and communicate effectively. You also possess a basic understanding of refrigeration, safety procedures, and machine operation. In addition, you have solid knowledge of the materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial and building maintenance work, along with basic computer proficiency.
Other Information
Pay Grade: Schedule "D"
Hourly Rate: $31.56 (2024 Rate)
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
