The Career**.**
As Director of Memory Care Services, you will report to the Community Director and provide strategic and day‑to‑day leadership for the LUM!NA Memory Care program. You will be accountable for the quality, delivery, and continuous improvement of Memory Care services, ensuring alignment with best practices, organizational standards, and legislative requirements.
You will play a key role in creating a supportive, engaging environment where Community Members living with dementia feel valued, respected, and understood — and where Team Members are proud of the care they provide.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Clinical Leadership
- Oversee the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred Memory Care services aligned with best practices in dementia care and the LUM!NA philosophy
- Collaborate with the Memory Care Program Coordinator to deliver innovative, purposeful programming 24/7
- Maintain and oversee individualized Community Member Care Plans, ensuring regular reviews and appropriate interventions
- Act as the Memory Care subject‑matter expert during tours, family meetings, and community outreach initiatives
- Lead care conferences and communicate proactively with Community Members and families
- Monitor incidents and behavioural changes, directing appropriate follow‑up and support
- Maintain strong relationships with hospitals, Ontario Health at Home, Public Health, and community partners
- Ensure full compliance with RHRA legislation and all regulatory standards
Team Leadership & Administration
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and manage Memory Care Team Members
- Provide performance feedback, evaluations, and progressive discipline where required
- Support orientation, ongoing education, and mandatory certifications
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful team culture
- Participate in the Manager‑on‑Duty rotation as required
- Model ethical leadership and professionalism at all times
Business Planning & Monitoring
- Contribute to annual business planning, budgeting, and operational reviews
- Monitor departmental performance, resources, and staffing models
- Support revenue‑generating initiatives and program innovation within Memory Care
- Track quality indicators and outcomes to support continuous improvement
Health & Safety
- Support emergency preparedness, drills, and response protocols
- Partner with the Director of Wellness to ensure compliance with IPAC standards
- Collaborate with Public Health during outbreaks
- Promote safe work practices for Community Members, Team Members, and visitors
Qualifications
- Post‑secondary education in Nursing, Social Services, Health Care Administration, Psychology, Recreation Therapy, or a related field
- Minimum3 years of leadership experience in retirement living or a similar environment
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals living with dementia, including complex behaviours
- Dementia‑related certifications (GPA, PIECES, DementiAbility) considered an asset
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Experience with electronic health records and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening
