About the role
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the President & CEO and serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Vice President of Finance & Administration will be responsible for the development of TO Live’s long term financial management strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals.
The VP of Finance & Administration is responsible for providing day to day leadership, management and direction to the finance, information technology and administration function of TO Live.
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The overall management of Finance Department, Information Technology and Administration departments including recruitment, hiring, and managing of staff.

Assures that all legislative and compliance reporting is issued on a timely, accurate and complete basis.

Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards and procedures.

Advise the President and other senior management on financial planning, budgeting, and policy matters.

In conjunction with the Director of Finance, manage the development and reporting of the annual budget.

Direct and approve the preparation of monthly and year end audited operating financial statements, note disclosures including PSAS standard review and all working papers and other supporting schedules.

Serve as the management liaison to the board and finance committee for all Finance and Administrative matters, effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at board of directors and committee meetings.

Contribute to the development of TO Live’s nonprofit strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization.

Remain current in areas of responsibility through education courses, professional publications, a professional network, and professional societies.

Maintain regular communication within the department and other senior staff through meetings and discussion.

Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure effective coordination of activities and delivery of required objectives.

Oversee the development and effective management of annual operating budget for each department.

Ensure all areas of the department are conducting staff training and orientation as required.

Undertake special projects as assigned and perform other duties as assigned by the President and CEO.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program and maintain the designation of CPA in good standing.
- Over 10 years’ experience in cash management, financial analysis, financial forecasting, operating & capital budgeting.
- Proficiency in cost accounting with experience in the entertainment industry is a requirement.
- Proficiency in charity law and practice.
- Proficiency in Excise Tax Act law as it applies to the charitable sector.
- Proficiency in public sector accounting standards as applied to not-for-profits.
- Excellent analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills.
- Planning and organizing skills to coordinate conflicting deadlines and interruptions.
WORKING
CONDITIONS
- Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights and weekends as required.
- Lack of natural light in workplace.
- Occasional objectionable odours in workplace.
- Travel between TO Live venues as required.
