Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tax Manager to lead and manage all aspects of tax compliance, reporting, and strategic planning for operations across Canada, the U.S., and international jurisdictions . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cross-border taxation , transfer pricing , and international tax structures , and will play a key role in ensuring tax efficiency and compliance across all entities.
Key Responsibilities: Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns in Canada and the U.S., ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
- Manage international tax compliance and reporting obligations, including foreign affiliate reporting, BEPS, and CFC rules.
- Ensure accurate and timely tax provision (IFRS) and quarterly/annual tax reporting for consolidated financial statements.
- Maintain compliance with transfer pricing documentation requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
Transfer Pricing
- Develop, implement, and maintain transfer pricing policies and procedures in alignment with OECD guidelines and local requirements.
- Coordinate and prepare global transfer pricing documentation, including Master File, Local Files, and Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR).
- Conduct transfer pricing risk assessments and support audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Tax Planning & Advisory
- Provide strategic tax planning and structuring support for cross-border transactions, including M&A, intercompany financing, and supply chain structuring.
- Identify tax optimization opportunities and provide guidance on international expansion and business restructuring.
- Monitor tax law changes in Canada, the U.S., and key international jurisdictions and assess their impact on the company.
Audit & Risk Management
- Manage communications and responses to tax audits and inquiries by Canadian, U.S., and international tax authorities.
- Support internal controls over tax processes and ensure compliance with SOX or other internal control frameworks as applicable.
Qualifications:
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional designation required.
- Master’s degree in Taxation, LLM, or equivalent considered an asset.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive tax experience with a focus on Canadian and U.S. corporate tax.
- Solid experience in international tax and transfer pricing (in-house or public accounting firm).
- Strong understanding of OECD BEPS, Multilateral Instrument (MLI), U.S. GILTI, FDII, and foreign tax credit rules.
- Proven experience in dealing with cross-border tax planning and compliance.
- Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
