About the role
A career at Horizon is for those who want to do something extraordinary, yet with meaningful purpose. We take pride in pushing the boundaries of technology and customer experience to deliver something that has never been done before. We are a fast-moving organization that promotes a hands-on approach, supporting each other through the tough spots, generating a close-knit team with a family feel.
What we do here is hard, but then very few things worth achieving are easy. By joining Horizon, you will have the opportunity to work with our world-class entrepreneurial team who are passionate about delivering something special.
What we need you to bring.
Horizon is seeking an open, enthusiastic, and experienced Aerospace Engineer specializing in Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS). Your role will combine technical leadership with hands-on design and integration of aircraft wiring systems that are critical to the safety and performance of our eVTOL aircraft platform.
You will be responsible for the architecture, routing, installation design, and certification support of EWIS across the aircraft, ensuring compliance with applicable airworthiness regulations. This role helps shape the technical direction for aircraft electrical installation design, supports the development of robust wiring architectures, and contributes to defining the processes and tools required to deliver certifiable EWIS designs for advanced air mobility platforms.
Your Day-to-Day
- Design, develop, and integrate Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS) across avionics, propulsion, flight control, and safety-critical systems.
- Develop wire harness architecture, routing strategies, separation schemes, and installation concepts in accordance with aircraft safety and certification requirements.
- Produce and review EWIS design data, including harness drawings, installation drawings, wiring diagrams, and routing documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable EWIS regulations and guidance including FAA 14 CFR Part 25 Subpart H – EWIS, EASA CS‑25 Subpart H, and applicable certification frameworks from Transport Canada Civil Aviation, Federal Aviation Administration, and European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
- Define EWIS design practices, routing rules, installation standards, and documentation workflows to support efficient development and certification.
- Support aircraft integration activities, ensuring wiring systems interface effectively with avionics, propulsion, sensors, and control systems.
- Coordinate with structures, systems, avionics, and manufacturing teams to ensure installability, maintainability, and manufacturability of wiring systems.
- Participate in design reviews, system integration activities, and certification efforts including safety assessments, compliance documentation, and verification planning.
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in aircraft electrical installation design, EWIS safety practices, and advanced aircraft architectures.
- Drive continuous improvement of EWIS design processes to increase safety, reliability, and development efficiency.
We are looking for people with demonstrated experience (7+ years) in aircraft electrical installation or EWIS design within aerospace programs. You will have;
- Understanding of aircraft wiring architecture, harness design, routing constraints, grounding, shielding, and separation requirements.
- Experience producing EWIS design data using aerospace design tools such as CATIA V5, Siemens Capital (or equivalent).
- Familiarity with aircraft communication networks and electrical interfaces including CAN, ARINC 429, Ethernet, and other avionics data buses.
- Knowledge of EWIS certification frameworks and guidance applicable to advanced aircraft and eVTOL development.
- Experience supporting verification, validation, and system integration activities for aircraft electrical systems.
About Your Future Team. As part of the team, you will tackle challenges and deliver something that has never been done before. You will join a small team of specialists, which provides significant latitude in developing our working methods alongside needs of developing the platform. Our Benefits.
