Reports To: Production Supervisor / Shop Team Lead
Location: York Precast Inc. Production Facility
Position Summary
ThePrecast Prep – Insulationposition is responsible for preparing precast forms and installing insulation components used in the production of insulated precast concrete panels. This role supports the production team by ensuring insulation materials, connectors, and embedded components are accurately installed prior to concrete placement.
The role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow shop drawings and production instructions, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare casting beds and forms prior to insulation installation.

Install insulation materials used in insulated precast wall panels.
-
Install connectors, ties, and embedded components required for insulated panel systems.
-
Measure, cut, and place insulation materials according to shop drawings and specifications.

Ensure insulation placement meets dimensional accuracy and engineering requirements.

Work closely with steel fabricators and production crews to ensure proper panel assembly before casting.
-
Inspect insulation and connectors prior to concrete placement.
-
Maintain clean and organized work areas around production tables.
-
Safely operate hand tools and power tools used in insulation preparation.
-
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
-
Report any production issues or material shortages to supervisors.

Assist production teams with general precast preparation tasks when required.

Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
-
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with reliable transportation.

Minimum 1+ year of experience in Precast Concrete, Manufacturing, Construction, or other related industry.

Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
(panel layouts, embeds, connections, lifting points) or production instructions.
-
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
-
Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-
Strong commitment to safety and quality.
Preferred Assets
-
Previous experience working in a precast concrete production facility.
-
Experience installing insulation systems in precast wall panels.
-
Familiarity with insulated sandwich panel construction.
-
Experience using measuring tools and fabrication equipment.
-
Standard First Aid Certification.
-
Fall Protection Certification.
Working Conditions

Indoor precast manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment.

Physically active role involving lifting, bending, measuring, and repetitive tasks.
