THE POSITION Keyera is seeking a Director, Asset Logistics in Calgary to lead our Asset Logistics team within Commercial Operations in delivering best-in-class service to internal and external stakeholders. This role oversees the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of hydrocarbons across Keyera’s pipelines, terminals, and storage assets.
By strategically integrating facility operations with pipeline scheduling, you will maximize throughput and minimize operational risk. Key responsibilities include overseeing forecasting, nomination management, outage planning, and month-end balancing. As a collaborative leader, you will partner with Marketing and peer logistics teams to drive cross-functional optimization and service excellence.
Responsibilities Strategic Pipeline & Throughput Management
- Capacity Optimization: Oversee the scheduling of batches and work with operations to ensure the pipeline operates efficiently.
- System Balancing: Monitor "over/short" positions across the network, ensuring that physical inventory aligns with accounting and contractual obligations.
- Interconnect Strategy: Manage relationships with third-party pipelines and upstream/downstream partners to ensure seamless handoffs.
Facility & Terminal Operations
- Maintenance Coordination: Work with Maintenance, Engineering and Operations teams to schedule "pigging" operations, integrity digs, and facility turnarounds without causing major commercial disruptions.
- Inventory Control: Implement rigorous position monitoring to ensure contractual compliance as well as gain/loss programs to track product shrinkage or measurement discrepancies.
Commercial & Financial Stewardship
- Tolls and Tariff Administration: Work with the Regulatory team, ensure all movements comply with CER, FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) or relevant provincial/state tariff filings.
Safety, Compliance, & Risk
- Logistics Regulatory Liaison: Liaise with the Regulatory team to ensure all pipeline movements and facility storage comply with CER, TC, AER, PHMSA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Leadership
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the Asset Logistics team and develop future logistics leaders.
- Liaise with facilities to ensure effective communication between site operations and logistics teams.
- Liaise with customers and Keyera commercial teams to ensure business needs are addressed proactively.
- Ensure processes and procedures meet business needs as well as health, safety and Operations Excellence objectives.
- Ensure all logistics personnel have current and appropriate training and certifications.
- Develop and implement effective logistics procedures and training programs.
- Develop strong relationships with service providers.
- Identify and communicate issues and opportunities.
- Participate in emergency response activities.
Qualifications The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service-oriented leader with the following qualifications:
- 10+ years of logistics experience in the Oil and Gas Industry including 3-5 years of experience in a formal or functional leadership position.
- Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent.
- Self-motivated, outgoing personality with a positive manner and a focus on internal and external customer service.
- An ambassador of Keyera’s culture.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Product knowledge in handling dangerous good shipments by truck, rail and pipeline.
