What we seek:
OCH is seeking a passionate Manager, Enterprise and Vendor Risk Management to support the effective implementation of the organization’s enterprise risk management framework. Under the guidance of the Director, Strategic Sourcing and Risk Management, the role is responsible for overseeing insurance portfolios and developing and implementing supplier risk management practices.
Manager, Enterprise and Vendor Risk Management with OCH:
Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across OCH operations is a top priority for our organization. As the Manager, Enterprise and Vendor Risk Management, you will play a key role in reducing risk exposure and strengthening the corporation’s overall risk posture.
As a Manager, Enterprise and Vendor Risk Management, some of the things you will do include:
Enterprise Risk Management
- Oversees the effective and efficient operation of area of responsibility, including managing financial resources, adhering to targets and providing overall supervision and direction to assigned staff.
- Prepares budgets, monitors expenditures, ensures the timely validation and approval of expenses, and ensures costs are controlled.
- Works with leaders to improve performance in all areas of responsibility and promote and support innovation and continuous improvement.
- Supports the development and maintenance of enterprise risk management framework and tools and fosters the development of risk culture within OCH.
- Facilitates risk assessments across departments to identify and assess key organizational risks.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop mitigation strategies for prioritized risks.
- Tracks and monitors enterprise risks, maintains the corporate risk register, and prepares quarterly risk reporting for leadership and governance committees.
- Promotes risk awareness and understanding across the organization through communication and training.
- Prepares reports and presentations on risk and insurance matters for senior management, leadership teams, governance committees, and the Board.
- Works collaboratively with departments and stakeholders across the organization to support effective risk mitigation.
Insurance Management
- Maintains strong relationships with insurance providers, vendors, and key internal clients.
- Collaborates with insurance providers to procure appropriate insurance policies which align with the company's risk profile and requirements
- Supports the management of insurance claims, ensuring timely reporting, accurate documentation, and effective resolution.
- Monitors changes in legislation and insurance industry practices and advises on potential impacts.
- Develops and implements strategies to minimize potential losses and liabilities. This may include implementing safety protocols, and recommending operational improvements
- Monitors insurance claims and associated spending to identify areas of risk/exposure
Vendor Risk Management
- Develops and implements corporate Vendor Performance Management Framework
- Coordinates the assessment and onboarding of new vendor with a focus on risk exposure and cyber security.
- Supports the development of vendor risk criteria and risk-based due diligence processes.
- Monitors ongoing vendor performance and risk indicators in collaboration with procurement and operational teams.
- Develops and implements reporting on spend, compliance, third-party risk, supplier diversity, and vendor performance management
- Develops a centralized tender control practice
- Works with Social Enterprise organizations to establish relationships and programs which benefit OCH tenants
- Ensures vendor related risks are recorded and monitored in alignment with OCH’s enterprise risk practices.
People Management
- Provides leadership and overall management of staff within areas of responsibility, including assigning, monitoring, and evaluating work; setting work plans, priorities, and expectations; coaching, developing, and motivating staff; and ensuring effective service delivery.
- Identifies, plans for, and manages human resources needs for assigned areas of responsibility, including hiring, termination, discipline, investigations, and grievances.
- Manages the effective and efficient operation of areas of responsibility, monitoring and reporting on adherence to targets and performance indicators and driving continuous improvement.
- Ensures a respectful and inclusive work environment aligned with OCH values.
Internal / External Accountabilities
- Manages collaborative and results-oriented relationships, acting as a respectful, courteous, and professional representative of OCH with all work-related contacts.
- Participates in management team meetings, departmental and corporate workgroups, committees, and initiatives as identified.
- Works in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery
- Ensures the timely investigation, response to, and documentation of all workplace incidents.
- Ensures that own work and the work of all staff aligns with OCH values, interests, plans, and objectives.
- Ensures that own work and the work of all employees is carried out in accordance with applicable health, safety, and privacy legislation, policies and procedures, and all other legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to the area of work.

What you bring:
Education & Experience:
- Relevant university degree and professional experience, training, and designations to demonstrate an expertise in compliance and enterprise risk management (Bachelor of Commerce and/or Business Administration).
- A minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in managing enterprise risk management, insurance, or vendor risk oversight.
- Related designation preferred (Canadian Risk Management (CRM) or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) are assets).
- Experience working in a public sector or not-for-profit environment is preferred.
- Experience managing a team is required; experience managing in a unionized environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks, insurance management practices, and vendor risk controls.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and mitigate risks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage a variety of stakeholders.
- Skilled in preparing professional reports and delivering risk-related presentations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and risk tracking or reporting tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently within a team-oriented environment.
Skills and abilities:
- Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and research abilities and strategic thinking to define complex problems, recommend solutions and translate broad policy directions into succinct and concrete procedures for implementation by staff at all levels.
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment within and across divisions, levels and operational sectors of the organization to resolve issues.
- Strong presentation skills to ensure effective communication of governance and management issues.
- Excellent planning skills including the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and oral communication skills to convey complex requirements so that they are understood by diverse audiences.
- Proficient in the use of information technology such as mobile devices and computer systems in the performance of work.
- Strategic thinking and capacity to undertake long term planning.
- Understanding of the values and objectives of a social housing organization and commitment to support those objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to apply project management methods and practices.
- Ability to quickly build trust and facilitate work groups through process improvement initiatives.
- Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in English is required
- Oral fluency and reading and writing abilities in French is an asset

- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check
- Must possess a valid "G" driver's license or equivalent and may require access to a vehicle for business purposes.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours, as required based on operational and emerging issues.
