Job Overview Laurentis is seeking a results-driven, ambitious, and strategic engineering professional to join our team in the role of Senior Electrical/I&C Design Engineer. LEP’s Operational strategy aims to pursue innovative commercial growth opportunities by providing medical isotopes and radio pharmaceuticals, nuclear sustainability solutions, inspections, engineering services, ageing management, commercial grade dedication assessment, single point vulnerability (SPV) assessments, detritiation decommissioning, refurbishment, nuclear safety analysis and other services to the low carbon energy industry.
The successful candidate will utilize their technical engineering skills and experience for assessing, developing and designing technical solutions in support of LEPs many engineering and design projects. Key Accountabilities
- Responsible for electrical/I&C design development, including drawings and calculations
- Developing, reviewing, updating, modifying, and approving electrical design plans and work schedules
- Liaising with clients and other engineers to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
- Communicate with other team members to coordinate workload and resources.
- Generate drawings and calculations and review or verify those of others.
- Author official documents including letters, reports, specifications, and requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians
- Ability to lead projects internally and externally and be responsible for project performances, including satisfied clients, profitable projects
- Compliance to and improving existing engineering processes.
- Analyze existing processes and lead improvement initiatives.
- Conducting research, perform diagnostics, and troubleshoot equipment.
EDUCATION
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in electrical/I&C engineering
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of designing custom Industrial electrical/I&C systems, preferably nuclear power station systems.
- Sound technical knowledge of designing, troubleshooting electrical/I&C circuits
- Experience in preparing technical specifications of major electrical/I&C components and be knowledgeable about applicable codes and standards, particularly nuclear codes and standards.
- Experience in instrumentation and controls system design, programmable logic controllers (PLC), DCS, PID controllers, field instruments, as well as loop, logic and single line drawings.
- Experience in developing ageing management studies for E/I&C components and performing failure modes and effects analysis.
- CAD familiarity and proficiency with Solidworks
- Exceptional planning, organizational, time management, and project management skills.
- Capable to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Experience in developing proposals for large client contracts, while working with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience working in or for a complex organization similar to size and scope of LEP; interacting directly with various departments, vendors, clients and stakeholders throughout the organization.
- People orientated with strong interpersonal skills, adept at building and maintaining positive, productive, and collaborative working relationships and partnerships externally and internally with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Experience in establishing credibility, confidence, and earning trust. A highly collaborative and effective leader/professional is required for this position.
- Possesses exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Broad conceptual, diagnostic, and analytical skills; ability to reach well-grounded, independent conclusions and influence outcomes.
- Ability to communicate effectively, possess excellent oral and writing skills, and strong facilitation, negotiation, influencing, and presentation skills. Ability to communicate clearly with a wide variety of people. Confident but approachable, a respected spokesperson in representing corporate and business development function at LEP.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address and overcome current and future challenges. A strong drive and a high level of energy, commitment, and enthusiasm to take on complex and challenging situations in a dynamic organization.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment while effectively managing and adapting to multiple changing priorities.
- The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values and the LEP Code of Business Conduct.
- Be a registered professional engineer in the province of Ontario.
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid security clearance
