About the role

Summary Working closely with the Senior Director, Partnership Marketing & Group VP, Partnership Marketing, this position will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Integrated Partnership Marketing relationships.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Engage with a variety of League departments including, but not limited to, Events, Integrated Sales, Marketing, PR, Club Business, Broadcast, Finance, Content, Legal, Social Impact, Growth Initiatives and Legislative Affairs, and Consumer Products to develop and execute fully integrated activation plans associated with League and Partner strategic objectives on behalf of multiple Partners.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute strategic plans for partners, determining resource allocation and project leads to achieve business objectives.
  • Event Management and Execution: Plan and execute NHL Tentpole events, managing logistics, budget, and asset approval, working in partnership with NHL Events team.
  • Project Support and Management: Support senior leadership on projects, manage budgets, and track financial performance to ensure successful outcomes, including overseeing Partner operations.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Lead communication with internal stakeholders, review and align external communications, and ensure effective collaboration with team members.
  • Consumer Insights: Decipher and apply research insights to elevate Partner programming.
  • Revenue Management: Responsible for fulfilling all contractual obligations and proactively selling new opportunities designed to further enhance the Partner’s association with the NHL, while increasing League revenue, including development and execution of go-to-market plans.
  • Brand management: including media planning, buying, negotiating and full funnel campaign experience.
  • Build and support the execution of partner 360° marketing campaigns.
  • Daily oversight and interaction with senior-level Partner personnel, agency and media resources to fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Supervise and mentor associated department personnel, including, as applicable, Senior Manager, Manager, Account Executive, and intern support.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a pro-active, self-motivated individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and establish daily work priorities in a high energy atmosphere.
  • Candidates must have experience with (i) interacting with a variety of disciplines and levels within an organization, (ii) developing, presenting and executing successful activation plans and new revenue initiatives for Partners, (iii) assisting in the process of leading aspects of Partner renewals, (iv) directing a variety of complex tasks/projects simultaneously, and (v) effectively managing a team and their development.
  • Candidates must be results-oriented, with a strong focus on delivering measurable outcomes and exceeding expectations.
  • The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience working with data and executing big brand advertising and purpose-led marketing initiatives with an ability to utilize research, turning insights into actions.
  • The position requires full-funnel program management experience and deft project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to drive thoughtful dialogue internally with key stakeholders and externally with senior-level Partner Personnel. French proficiency is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, decision-making capacity and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated passion for sports and the sponsorship industry as a whole.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, as demonstrated through experience leading marquee-level partnerships/sponsorships. - - Attention to detail, ability to multi-task effectively, and a proven track record of building platforms from start to finish, leading multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience using third party research to present recommendations. Digital literacy including social media, presentation software skills, tracking documents, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have at least an undergraduate degree in a business/marketing related field.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of partnership marketing, brand marketing, event marketing and/or sales experience with a sports/entertainment property or consulting/activation agency including specific responsibility for client services and revenue generation.
