About the role
Part-time position, approximately 4 hours per week
Purpose of the Position The work consists of planning, directing, supervising and carrying out activities related to the selection, organization, use, dissemination and preservation of the library's information resources; acting as a specialized intermediary to make information or documentation in all its forms accessible to any user.
Main Responsibilities Participates in the establishment of goals and develops the program for his unit in accordance with established policies and the City's development plans; Identifies and justifies the resources and means necessary for the implementation of this program, ensures its follow-up, and suggests service improvements if necessary; Collaborates in the allocation of operating budgets according to the needs of his unit and ensures the follow-up of the established budgetary resources; Provides a reference and research service, prepares bibliographies, profiles of users' interests and ensures the diffusion of documentary information, collaborates with specialized clienteles such as: other municipalities, organizations, associations, institutions and companies; Participates in the animation program, ensures its realization and promotion and, as the case may be, animates activities; Prepares various administrative reports and technical documents related to his work.
Education, Qualifications and Experience Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies; Two (2) years of experience relevant to the nature of the job.
Essential Knowledge Both languages (French and English) spoken and written; Very good knowledge of the field of library and information service, issues and trends; General knowledge of municipal library community.
Abilities and Skills To do research work, analysis and summaries and to write precise reports; Excels in customer service; To transferring knowledge and to organize training session; Ability to plan and organize the work.
Work Schedule Friday : 5-9pm (4 hours); Occasional replacements.
Salary: $76 920 to $116 231
