Tacten is currently seeking Rope Access Journeyperson Welders (B-Pressure and/or CWB) and Apprentice Welders to join our team for ongoing work in Fort McMurray, AB.
In this role, you will be responsible for performing welding activities in accordance with project specifications while ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and regulatory standards .

Position Information
Employment Type Temporary full-time project/shutdown work, with additional opportunities for ongoing and repeat mobilizations based on operational and client requirements. Site Syncrude IRATA Level 1 ticket required, or willingness to obtain Perform and/or assist with welding activities using SMAW and GTAW processes in accordance with qualifications, approved welding procedures, and project requirements. Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, welding procedures, and specifications to complete assigned work. Prepare, fit, assemble, and weld materials and components while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, ensuring tools and materials are in safe and proper working condition. Perform welding in various positions as required and assist with troubleshooting and correcting weld deficiencies. Support quality control processes, including visual inspections and NDE activities, to ensure completed work meets project specifications and acceptance criteria. Maintain accurate records of completed work, welds, and required documentation. Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE and participation in safety initiatives. Work collaboratively with supervisors, journeypersons, apprentices, and other trades to safely and efficiently achieve project objectives. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance technical skills and support trade certification progression. Journeyperson Welding Certification required. Candidates who are not Journeyperson certified must provide documented proof of trade hours and relevant industrial insulation experience Registered Welding Apprentices will be considered based on experience and project requirements and must provide proof of accumulated apprenticeship hours and current apprenticeship status. ABSA B-Pressure Certification is considered a strong asset for candidates performing pressure welding activities. IRATA Rope Access Certification (any level) is required. Candidates without current certification must be willing and able to obtain certification prior to project mobilization. Additional industry-recognized safety certifications are considered an asset. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, quality workmanship, and compliance with company and client procedures. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and project specifications. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including working at heights and in industrial environments. Valid driver's license and the ability to travel and work at various project locations as required.
Additional Information
Apprentice Welders will receive on-the-job training and mentorship from experienced Journeyperson Pipefitters to support skill development, safe work practices, and progression within the trade. Flights and accommodations provided
