Rocky Mountain School District No. 6 is now accepting external applications for:
Custodian
Temporary, full-time (40 hr/wk)
**Effective Immediately to April 30, 2026, or return of incumbent **
The custodian is responsible to provide a healthy, clean and safe environment for learning within our facilities and to assist in general safety and comfort for staff, students and visitors. This role includes the cleaning and security of district buildings, as well as monitoring the public use of school facilities. Custodians often work alone and after school hours. Work is assigned and performed under the general direction of the Operations Supervisor.
**Examples of Work **
- All duties as described in the School District No 6 Custodial Handbook.
- Checks condition of facilities before and after use by public users.
- Reports damage or hazardous conditions to the Operations Supervisor.
- Performs major cleaning of the interior of the school, such as waxing floors, washing walls, furniture, light fixtures, carpets and windows during school break periods.
- Safe operation and care of custodial equipment.
- Performs minor maintenance including changing lamps as required.
- Consistently demonstrates fair, courteous and patient approach when communicating with students, staff, parents and other members of the public.
- Checks fire extinguishers and emergency lights as required.
- Performs winter maintenance as required (snow shoveling, deicing, sanding).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of cleaning products, practices and equipment.
- Knowledge of WHMIS and all applicable WorkSafe BC safety procedures.
Required Training, Experience and Certification
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- First Aid Certificate would be an asset.
- Knowledge of the School District No 6 Custodian Handbook would be an asset.
Rate of Pay
$26.46 /hr as per the Collective Agreement 440
