This role is responsible for performing safe, efficient, and high-quality fusion of HDPE, MDPE, and other thermoplastic piping systems at customer job sites across Ontario.Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Fusion Technician is responsible for butt fusion, electrofusion, saddle fusion, sidewall fusion, and other thermoplastic joining methods in accordance with industry standards, manufacturer procedures, and internal quality requirements. The role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.Key ResponsibilitiesFusion OperationsSet up, operate, and maintain fusion equipment including McElroy, Georg Fischer, and other approved fusion machinesPerform fusion work in accordance with ASTM, CSA, PPI, and manufacturer specificationsOperate fusion equipment on pipe sizes ranging from small diameter up to large diameter (½” to 65”)Prepare pipe and fittings by cutting, facing, scraping, cleaning, and aligning to ensure fusion qualityVerify pipe size, SDR/DR, lot numbers, and fusion parameters prior to each jointConduct visual inspections of fusion joints to confirm bead formation, alignment, and integrityComplete fusion logs, QA/QC documentation, and required project recordsQuality Control and StandardsEnsure all work meets or exceeds customer, project, and regulatory requirementsMaintain full traceability for fusion joints including operator ID, equipment used, and environmental conditionsIdentify and reject damaged or non-conforming pipe and fittingsParticipate in testing activities when requiredEquipment, Vehicles, and MaintenanceInspect, clean, calibrate, and maintain fusion machines, heater plates, trimmers, and related toolsMaintain fusion equipment, vehicles, and trailers in safe working orderAssist in warehouse operations including loading, unloading, and material handling as requiredSafety and ComplianceFollow all OHSA, company safety procedures, and site-specific safety rulesComply with confined space, working at heights, lifting, rigging, and crane protocolsParticipate in job hazard assessments and toolbox talksUse required PPE and report any safety concerns or incidents immediatelyCustomer Service and TeamworkCommunicate professionally with customers, contractors, inspectors, and internal teamsCoordinate schedules and job requirements with sales, fleet, and operations teamsRepresent Sandale Utility Products in a professional and respectful mannerQualificationsMandatory Experience and CertificationsApplicants must meet all of the following requirements to be considered:Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience as a Fusion TechnicianMcElroy Manufacturing Fusion Operator Training and qualificationIntegrity Fusion Large Diameter Electrofusion Installation qualificationGeorg Fischer Multi/Joint 3000 Plus Restraint System Installation Practice certificationWorking at Heights certificationConfined Space certificationCrane Rigging certificationValid driver’s license with a clean driving recordAdditional InformationAdditional Skills and RequirementsAbility to travel anywhere in Ontario and work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime as requiredComfortable working outdoors in all weather conditionsAbility to work independently and in remote job site locationsStrong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skillsForklift operation experience an assetAbility to lift up to 100 lbs and perform physically demanding workWhat We OfferCompetitive and negotiable compensationOvertime and profit-sharing programCompany cell phoneSupportive team environmentOpportunity for long-term growth within a growing organizationEMCO is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a discrimination, harassment, and barrier free workplace where all employees can contribute to their fullest potential.
