About the role

PowerON delivers comprehensive electrification solutions, including infrastructure development and operations and maintenance (O&M). As part of PowerON’s transition to a fully in-house operating model, this role is the senior operational leader responsible for running PowerON’s Operations, Maintenance, and Asset Management business line on a day-to-day basis. The role carries full accountability for maintenance field operations, asset availability and uptime, response and resolution performance, operational service credits, client-facing performance commitments, and O&M financial outcomes, while owning the evolution of PowerON’s enterprise asset management capabilities across high-power EV charging infrastructure, battery storage systems, transformers, and balance-of-plant assets. This role acts as the primary operational counterpart to executive leadership, translating strategy into execution and elevating operational issues into clear, decision-ready insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead PowerON’s maintenance field operations through direct management of operations and maintenance leaders, including oversight of technicians, dispatch, preventive and corrective maintenance execution, and response-time risk management.
  • Lead through managers and subject matter experts, setting direction, priorities, and performance expectations while intervening selectively on the most complex, high-impact operational and strategic issues.
  • Own operational performance outcomes, including mean time to respond (MTTRsp), mean time to resolve (MTTR), asset uptime and availability targets, and the management and administration of operational service credits. This includes ownership of performance reporting, trend analysis, and executive- and client-facing dashboards.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce all O&M technical documentation and operational readiness requirements, including O&M manuals, SOPs, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and commissioning-to-O&M handover processes for medium- and high-voltage systems. This includes accountability for operational readiness, commissioning handover, and timely delivery of O&M-related milestones across projects and portfolios.
  • Determine when root cause analyses are required for operational or systemic failures, and ensure those analyses are completed through corrective action and closure by appropriate technical and operational resources.
  • Own the ongoing evolution, performance, and integrity of PowerON’s enterprise asset management (EAM) platform, including ticketing, work order management, asset registries, lifecycle data, and system enhancements, including identifying and implementing structural improvements to operating models, systems, and processes as the business scales.
  • Lead asset performance analytics, lifecycle cost modeling, and optimization initiatives to improve reliability, reduce total cost of ownership, and inform maintenance strategy and investment decisions.
  • Act as the primary client executive point of contact for operations and asset management matters, including performance reviews, escalation management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Frame complex operational, financial, and asset-performance issues into structured analyses, recommendations, and decision materials for executive leadership and clients.
  • Own O&M business-line budgeting, cost management, and financial performance, with accountability for meeting approved targets.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute Asset Management Plans for clients, including maintenance strategies, lifecycle cost outlooks, and asset renewal considerations.
  • Set, standardize, and adapt maintenance strategies across provinces and operating environments, accounting for regulatory, climatic, and operational differences.
  • Build, lead, and manage a multi-disciplinary leadership team spanning field operations, asset management, systems, and reporting, supported by subject matter experts as required.
  • Support other tasks across the company as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical education and field training; professional engineering designation is an asset.
  • 8+ years of experience leading operations, maintenance, and/or asset management teams, preferably within electrification or other mission-critical infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated experience running large-scale operations and maintenance functions with direct accountability for performance, financial outcomes, and client service levels.
  • Ability to operate as both a hands-on technical expert and a senior people leader in a mission-critical infrastructure environment.
  • Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and leading high-performance teams across multiple locations.
  • Experience implementing, operating, and evolving Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) or Maintenance Management systems.
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management principles, including ISO 55000 standards and Asset Management Plan requirements, particularly for Canadian municipal or public-sector infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Ontario Regulation 588/17 and 193/21; knowledge of equivalent regulations in other major Canadian jurisdictions (e.g., BC, QC) is an asset.
  • Experience working with public transit agencies or comparable public-sector owners, including familiarity with operations and maintenance master specifications.
  • Self-driven, operationally rigorous, and intellectually curious, with a strong interest in electrification and sustainability.
  • Willingness to travel across Canada to oversee operations and client engagements.

While all qualified candidates are invited to apply, we particularly welcome applications from women, persons with disabilities, First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, members of visible minorities, and 2SLGBTQ+ persons.

We thank all applicants for their interest, however only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. PowerON will accommodate candidates under the AODA legislation in all aspects of the hiring process. Please notify us if accommodation is required.
