The base salary will be $74,990 - $97,500 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Responsibilities

Working closely with the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs, and the EdD Coordinator, the Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration and managing graduate student funding. The role provides leadership in academic and administrative support for all the graduate programs in the Faculty, ensuring success of the School’s graduate programs. The Manager ensures clear and current information is available and efficient processes are in place for academic leaders and staff to support graduate programs. The Manager develops and applies strategies and procedures to advance recruitment, assess applications, manage funding and team budgets, provide graduate student financial support, counselling and advice, and provide support and advice to faculty. When relevant, the Manager also provides advice to other team leaders in the Faculty, including on recruitment.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in related field (Education, Management, Business Administration)
  • Master’s degree is preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years’ administrative experience in an academic setting
  • Two years’ experience in a management role with supervisory experience
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized setting is preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Demonstrated analytical ability with a working knowledge of accounting principles
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including spreadsheet design, work processing and database management
  • Ability to develop a strong department team coupled with an ability to work effectively as a member of the management team
  • Creative problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage activities both for self and others effectively
  • Ability to promote individual growth by encouraging others to learn new skills and develop themselves
  • Ability to quickly re-allocate resources and adjust priorities in response to unexpected events or changing circumstances
  • Ability to provide guidance to assist others in solving complex problems
  • Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Results-oriented with the ability to motivate and coach employees to meet high performance standards
  • Ability to organize and effectively manage financial and human resources needed to achieve results

  • Project management skills to ensure team roles are clear, milestones are communicated and deadlines are met
