Position Summary:
Grading short written answers in quizzes and exams according to an outlined format for the answers. Entering these grades into a spreadsheet. Assist with the uploading of course content on myCourses (feel free to change or add to content)
Take questions from students in person or via email and answer them according to a reasonable weekly schedule. Seek help from the lecturer or coordinator in dealing with difficult questions or organizational matters. Visit the students' myCourses and Facebook discussion groups daily to interject a comment when correction or guidance is necessary. Build up a list of frequently asked or instructive questions and answers which can be made available on myCourses. Arrange and give at least 2 (two) pre-exam tutorial/discussion sessions (if requested) based upon problems students have which the TA has identified in advance. Be ready to lead group discussions during 2 Mystery Cases in class. Be present at lectures sufficiently to allow the students and lecturers to get to know you, and become familiar with the professors and their classes. Assist with setup and adjudication of mid-term/finals exams. In cooperation with the Coordinator, be present at the mid-term exam in case of problems and student questions. Meet with the coordinator periodically to discuss the progress of the course in relation to the TA work schedule, and to the institute changes or innovations to improve the communication and learning process.
Qualifications:
Preferably knowledge of Immunology & Microbiology and key research methods and ideally having taken at least the Immunology MIMM 214 and 314 coursed, or a substantially equivalent Immunology course, and performed well in it. Excellent time management skills are required.
