In This Role, You Will

  • Lead the development of products with a focus on project reporting, schedule adherence, costs, innovation, documentation, and management of product life cycles and efficiencies
  • Lead design process and approve related technical document within scope of products overseen
  • Review and approve other technical documents in lieu of Electronics design manager, when required
  • Lead technical support and training for customers, the sales department and extended sales channels along with other in-house groups as required. This could extend to field support
  • Lead embedded firmware and software design within EDG
  • Encourage, mentor, train, and lead small groups of designers and technicians during product development
  • Provide inputs on budgeting, resource requirements and design tools
  • Stay current with Industry practices as it relates to electronics design, fiber optics, common protocols, software interfaces, mechanical needs (e.g. packaging, thermal design), and environmental specifications, as well as application system requirements
  • Work directly with customers and trade organizations to determine product requirements while adhering to applicable standards, certification requirements, and testing plans
  • Support documentation for design processes (guidelines, checklists, procedures)
  • Assist sales activities including assessments of technical feasibility, interpretation of customer requirements and specifications, customer visits, assistance with quotations, proposals, and promotional materials, and participation in trade shows or trade organizations as required, which may involve travel.
  • Adhere to the Company’s quality plan and provide inputs where required
  • Participate in other Company project and product developments, particularly related to areas of expertise

What You Bring

  • A Degree in Electrical Engineering with 7 or more years of directly relevant experience, typically 10 years with 5+ years related to multiplexer products
  • Design Experience in Electronics, Fiber Optics and Optoelectronics
  • Design Experience in Code Development, Testing, and Debugging for FPGAs and/or microcontrollers
  • Experience with communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet, RS-232/485/422, CAN Bus, I2C, SPI)
  • Experience with video standards/interfaces (e.g. NTSC/PAL, SDI and 3G/HD-SDI, Camera link, GigE Vision)
  • Experience with high-speed multiplexing (TDM and packet-based protocols, 100M to 10G+)
