About the role

As a Senior Program Manager, you will be accountable for leading the design, execution, and oversight of strategic programs that align with Irving Oil’s long-term business objectives and corporate strategy. Your goal will be to ensure that program value is delivered and that benefits are realized in alignment with sponsor and steering committee direction. Our senior leadership team relies on this position to lead the execution of corporate strategy, communicate progress, present outcomes, highlight risk, and ensure strategic alignment across efforts. Your success in achieving this will be demonstrated in your collaborative and relationship-driven approach, your ability to work across the business to support delivery teams, maintain alignment across initiatives, and foster cross-functional coordination.

Your Responsibilities

  • Facilitate collaborative working sessions and drive alignment across multiple work streams
  • Influence stakeholders and contributors without formal authority to achieve program goals
  • Align program objectives with corporate strategy and adjust priorities as business needs evolve
  • Develop and maintain program structures including scope, reporting, budgets, and measurable outcomes
  • Lead risk identification and mitigation efforts, escalating critical issues and proposing solutions
  • Guide cross-functional teams by fostering trust, accountability, and shared purpose
  • Support project managers by resolving delivery obstacles and managing cross-project dependencies
  • Communicate program performance through structured reporting and presentations to senior leadership
  • Engage stakeholders with clear messaging that reinforces strategic alignment and program value

Your Skills

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills with the ability to influence without formal authority
  • Ability to foster trust, alignment, accountability, and shared sense of purpose across diverse contributors to enable successful program delivery
  • Ability to challenge conventional thinking, drive innovative approaches, and distill complex information into actionable insights that clearly articulate relevance, impact, and strategic implications
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous settings and adjust quickly to shifting priorities and business needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences and effectively translate complex information into clear updates, reports, and presentations
  • Strong analytical skills paired with a structured, organized approach to managing information, tasks, and priorities—enabling effective decision-making and execution in fast-paced environments
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and anticipating future program needs to ensure readiness and sustained progress
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfortable leveraging digital tools to support program delivery

Your Experience

  • 10+ years' experience in project execution, project management, or program management
  • Post-secondary education required; a background in engineering is considered an asset
  • PMP or PgMP certification is considered an asset
  • Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) project experience considered an asset
  • Change management designations, such as CCMP, Prosci, or CMS considered an asset
