Position Summary

This is a fixed-term, 12-month contract role to cover a maternity leave. The Designer will play a pivotal role in bringing Element’s event visions to life through innovative, client-focused design solutions. Reporting to the Creative Director, this role will be responsible for developing creative concepts, producing detailed design proposals, and collaborating closely with clients, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of event environments.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Conceptualization:

  • Collaborate with clients and event planners to understand their vision, objectives, and event requirements.

  • Develop innovative and visually appealing design concepts tailored to each event, considering themes, color schemes, and overall ambiance.

Design Development:

  • Create detailed design proposals, including floor plans, mood boards, custom build drawings, and visual representations of decor elements.

  • Source and select appropriate decor items, furniture, lighting, and other design elements to bring the concept to life.

  • Stay updated on the latest design trends and incorporate fresh ideas into event concepts.

Client Interaction:

  • Present design proposals to clients, incorporating feedback and revisions as necessary to achieve client satisfaction.

  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client inquiries, concerns, and design-related queries professionally and promptly.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the sales team and project management teams, clients, and vendors to ensure seamless communication and understanding of design expectations.

  • Collaborate with the Decor Crew, Logistics, Operations Teams, and other event professionals to translate design concepts into physical setups, providing guidance and support onsite.

  • Partner with the Design Team and Creative Director to develop internal sales collateral and marketing-focused design materials.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and budgets.

  • Oversee the implementation of design plans, ensuring accurate placement of decor elements and timely resolution of any design-related challenges.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct regular quality checks on decor items and design installations to maintain high standards of presentation.

  • Address any discrepancies or issues promptly, ensuring the event setup meets the envisioned design quality.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in interior design, Event Planning, or a related field. Relevant certifications and additional training are a plus.
  • Proven experience in event design, set decoration, or a similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing diverse and creative event concepts.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Vectorworks, Canva, AI design tools, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of spatial arrangement, color theory, and decor elements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a keen eye for aesthetics and trends in event design.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to event venues and client meetings.
