This posting is to fill one permanent, full-time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.

As the responsible stewards of public funds, the Department of Finance partners to ensure value for money in the delivery of programs and services for Yukoners. The Department of Finance serves as the territory’s statistical body and develops the territorial budget, corresponding supplementary budgets, and Public Accounts for the territory. It is also responsible for negotiating, coordinating, and representing Yukon on inter-governmental financial matters with other jurisdictions. In its capacity as a central agency, the department works with all areas of government in the creation of their annual departmental budgets and in processing operational accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.

The Financial Operations and Revenue Services division provides corporate financial services to the Government of Yukon. This includes the provision of financial systems, and process development and support; banking, investment and debt services; taxation administration; and accounts payable and accounts receivable for the Government of Yukon.

The opportunity…

The Banking, Investment and Debt Services branch is responsible for management of the Yukon government’s banking and merchant services, cash and debt management, accounting of interest revenue and expenses, compliance and advising senior management on related matters.

The Banking Services Manager is the key contact between the Government of Yukon and the financial institution facilitating the effective delivery of services relating to banking, payments, merchant, and compliance while supporting the Director of Banking, Investments and Debt Services in research and analysis on related matters. This position is the primary contact for managing effective delivery of Rural Community Banking services in the Yukon.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented with strong research and analytical skills, knowledge of banking operations, and the ability to establish relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide excellent client service in a highly regulated environment.

  • University degree in finance, business, economics, accounting or related field.
  • Experience researching and analyzing financial data (may include forecasting budgets, preparing reports and/or recommendations ideally in a finance environment).
  • Experience managing stakeholders or client relationships.
  • Experience in the banking, investments, treasury or financial services industry would be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional information

Conditions of Employment: Security clearance

This position is in Whitehorse, Yukon and requires you to work in the office. Remote work is not available for this role.
