About the role

Job Description As an NMS Standards Specialist, you will lead and shape industry standards efforts, focusing on Optical NMS and solution manageability. You will contribute to functional strategy by integrating standardization considerations and engaging with key customers and senior experts on evolving standards. Acting as a liaison between standards organizations and R&D, you will translate specifications into implementable requirements while ensuring alignment with Nokia’s vision. Your expertise in network modeling (UML, YANG) and full FCAPS network management will drive innovation and influence industry policies. With strong communication and leadership skills, you will navigate cross-cultural collaborations and contribute to global standardization initiatives.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Shapes and leads efforts of standards and industry specifications with special emphasis on Optical NMS.
  • Can analyze, develop and implement concepts and solutions as a subject matter expert. Increased awareness of and involvement outside of own subject area.
  • Carries out specialized activities/projects according to general direction. Influences others to support decisions. Works mostly independently.
  • Analyze situations or data that requires review of relevant factors.
  • Contributes to functional vision and strategy resulting from standardisation consideration.
  • Consistently interacts with key customers with senior experts on standardisation-related topics.
  • Participates in alignment and clarifying membership issues in Nokia.
  • Influences standard /open source policies regionally under guidance.

Key Skills And Experience You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10 to 15 years of relevant work experience in Optical NMS.
  • Operates autonomously in your subject area, with the ability to analyze, develop, and implement concepts and solutions as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensures existing plans are put into operation and executes/oversees processes to meet customer needs.
  • Expertise in FCAPS, UML, and YANG.
  • An energetic, creative engineer skilled in standards and network modeling for manageability.

It would be nice if you also had :

  • Demonstrated success in multiple roles, adaptable to manage complex and changing business environments.
  • Management experience with well-advanced skills in a specific professional discipline, combining deep knowledge of theory and organizational practice or expertise.
  • The ability to liaise between standards and R&D, translating specifications into implementable requirements.
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with executives and external parties, including negotiating on operational matters.
