Artificial Intelligence Engineer
About the role
AI Transformation Lead
Location: GTA Ontario
Work Model: Onsite/Hybrid – 3–4 days per week
Employment: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Opportunity
Our client is a long-established Ontario organization operating multiple businesses across the manufacturing and industrial sectors.
With strong executive support, the company is making a significant investment in artificial intelligence—and is looking for a hands-on leader to turn that vision into practical, measurable solutions.
This is a true greenfield opportunity. There is no existing AI team or playbook to inherit. You will have the freedom, resources and leadership access needed to identify opportunities, test ideas and introduce AI solutions that improve how the business operates.
What You’ll Do
Work directly with operational, finance and administrative teams to understand current processes and identify high-impact AI opportunities. Build prototypes, proofs of concept and sandbox solutions that demonstrate real business value. Explore practical applications involving computer vision, workflow automation, document and data extraction, and AI agents. Partner with department leaders to refine successful ideas and develop business cases for broader implementation. Collaborate with the technology team on data access, integrations, security and deployment. Evaluate AI tools and platforms based on business fit, scalability and return on investment. Establish clear success metrics and measure the results of each initiative. Build confidence and understanding around AI by helping employees adopt new tools and ways of working. Develop an AI roadmap based on business priorities, operational needs and proven results.
What We’re Looking For
Five or more years of experience in technology, business analysis, process improvement, solutions engineering or a related hands-on role. Practical experience building solutions with modern AI tools and platforms. Strong business acumen and the ability to uncover opportunities by listening, observing and asking the right questions. A builder’s mindset—you enjoy experimenting, testing and turning ideas into working solutions. Comfort operating in an open-ended, entrepreneurial environment. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across operations, finance, technology and executive leadership. A willingness to test, measure, adjust and learn quickly.
Nice to Have
Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic or similar platforms. Familiarity with automation platforms and agentic AI tools. Experience with computer vision, data extraction or workflow automation. Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or other continuous improvement methodologies. Experience within manufacturing, recycling, industrial operations or another operational environment.
